Double buggy for holiday/to fit in a car boot

Hmm, I'm really looking for an excuse to buy a baby jogger city mini gt double but trying to justify the expense Grin

So - does anyone have one? Would you take one on holiday and does it fit in the boot of a car easily/without taking up the whole space?

Would a non-gt fit better as the wheels are smaller?

Or should I be sensible and pick up a second-hand Maclaren or similar?

I have an old (massive) Mountain Buggy double which I love but it's not practical for holiday.

I have twins who are nearly a year and often nap in the buggy so space/comfort/recline/leg support etc is still important.

Thanks.

We have the normal version rather than the GT, and it's pretty neat as doubles go. We have a Qashai+2 and with it in 5 seat mode we have shitloads of space in the boot. In 7 seat (when the boots is more like the curved shape of the back of the car!) we can still get it in by taking the wheels off (quick release) and that space is tiny. We used to have a Megane and a Yaris and I reckon it would have got in both no problem as in a smaller hatch you can take the wheels off and stand it upright so it really needs very little depth.

We've got the GT double and it's a lovely pram, and was also bought primarily for holidays. I originally had the nonGT double and although the GT is bigger, it's not that much bigger, so if a car wouldn't fit the one, it probably wouldn't fit the other.

The main advantage is the speed and simplicity of fold, it just snaps in half. It's still pretty bulky when folded, and is heavier than the nonGT, but is fairly narrow and as Statistically says, can stand upright on its edge.

As a holiday pram it was great, the sunshades are huge and we would often have both kids asleep in it by the side of the pool!

Worth mentioning that you can take a pram (even a double) right to the boarding gate when you fly. You then fold it up and give it to them, and it reappears on the luggage carousel. I bought the standard double BJ carry bag and was told at the time it would fit GT- it doesn't fit it well and is a very tight squeeze. You also have to take the wheels off and zip them into bags. All well and good unless you are running late and hassled and have 2 screaming kids and everyone is looking at you (ah happy memories)

I'm currently having a bigger bag custom made that will fit it without having to take the wheels off!

I had a baby jogger double after spending insane amounts on other doubles, i wish we had gone for this one first it is amazing, folds pretty much flat so will fit in the boot no worries, the turning circle is fab, it turns on a sixpence & i love the sun shades they cover almost all of the children, go on do it! you know you want to! :)

Enjoy your holiday!

Can confirm citymini double defo does fit in boot of yaris with parcel shelf off. Weight might put me off the gt version if it was going to be lifted and folded a lot but in terms of pushing it would defo be better. Happy chosing, i doubt you'd be disappointed either way. Grin

This lot are the reason I have a GT! I was supposed to be getting a banged up old regular

I would get the BJCMGTD :)
Theres so many more advantages to the GT over the City Mini. The wheels are neither here nor there because once folded flat, the wheels are so simple to pop off and they tuck in nicely into any gaps in the car. Its no hassle at all to remove them. This is one of my favourite links. If you look at the first photo, it shows the BJCM on top - but as you can see the BJCMGT and Elite are hiding underneath ie their chassis' are actually smaller length wise..and overall there is not much in them. I know these are single's, but the same applies to the doubles.
You naturally push a double pushchair differently to a single, and the adjustable handlebar and the GT wheels will make a difference to the push. I have had both, and the GT is far nicer.
