Phil and ted sport anybody know?

I was really looking forward to buying a tandem buggy and was opting for the phil and teds navigator. But someone has just offered me a phil and teds sport and I can't say no because we couldn't really
Afford the navigator so it would be stupid to buy when I'm been given something massively similar. Can anyone tell me anything about the sport is it good? Will it be just as fun as the navigator?

I have just bought the sport (second hand). Don't know anything about the navigator sorry, but the sport seems like a good tandem buggy, quite large but folds down easily and sturdy.

I actually think its better in some ways - the second seat reclines a little for example!

Just make sure the wheels are pumped up well - (that goes for both models though) - and you might want to change the wheel bearings if you feel that they need it. It's a bit fiddly to do but I've managed on a couple and if I can do it....

I got the Sport second hand, and my friend had a Navigator. I have to say the Navigator is better in some ways, and looks comfier. However, the way I looked at it was it might be better, but not worth the extra she paid over me, so was happy with that!

Not much space under a P and T so if you're getting it second hand, why don't you treat yourself to the pannier bags as you haven't had to shell out

I have a pink sport and i'm cleaning it up to sell soon. It was a brilliant pram, so handy, a dream to push and got me through shopping trips as baby and toddler were strapped in and good to go. I absolutely loved it, and i used it for 3 years starting with newborn & toddler mode, then baby and toddler mode and then just used one seat for toddler.

The navigator looks much the same but with improvements such as the new easier to recline seat feature, smaller tyres, carseat and toddler mode, and a few others but like you say its very expensive and if you have been given a sport i would stick with it as it's just as goodSmile

ItCameFromOuterSpace · 23/06/2013 09:49

3month does the second toddler seat recline with the sport? Mine doesn't seem to move. Also where can you buy a hood or the second seat?

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 23/06/2013 09:53

I love out p and t sport.
Don't know anything about the navigator to compare though.

Easy to put up and down. Lots of space with the two seats for each child. I did find putting a newborn in the bed under seat a bit strange as he was tucked away, but it was only for 3 months.

Rain cover is a good quality material and hard wearing.

The only thing I miss is a handle or hook to pop a bag on, but completely impractical with a baby where the bag would hang iykwim.

Do check the tyres are pumped up well.

Ours was second hand ad I've no complaints

Itcame my sport v2 has a zip on the toddler seat that unzips both sides, it doesn't give a total recline but it partially reclines just enough for a nap.

I have a sport for my DS who is 10 months. I find it really hard to sit him back up after he has had a nap. It's almost like the straps at the back aren't long enough? Does anyone else have this problem?
Also we are thinking of TTC and wonder how easy it is to get a seat attachment?

TanglednotTamed · 23/06/2013 15:12

I have a Sport - bought it 4 years ago second hand and it has had daily use ever since (for DC1 and DC2, and then DC2 and DC3 in quick succession). It is a trusty old workhorse, couldn't do without it.

We do get punctures every so often (am lazy so just take the wheel to the bike shop for them to repair - if I didn't have another backup pram, I would probably buy a spare wheel for when this happens).

Also, the shopping basket/footwell broke last week (I massively overload it, so not surprising) - bought a new one online for £25 and DH has just fitted it (needed screwdrivers etc.)

I like having it even when all the kids want to walk - means I don't have to carry anything :)

Dackyduddles · 23/06/2013 15:14

There is nothing fun about a p&t. We bought the navigator. We hate it. Odious machine.

3MonthMaid · 23/06/2013 16:11

It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I still think that it is the easiest way to carry 2 children for reasonably long distances without having to push a tank.

The second seat on the sport has 2 zips which give a minimal but significant recline. Helps to bridge the gap.

Yes the recline (and more importantly) the un-recline on the sport is pretty tricky. You can't really do it with the child in it, which is pretty daft.

sweetiepie1979 · 23/06/2013 22:37

Thank you everyone for your replys. It's silly to want something new when I have this offered so I'll accept it gracefully. From what you've all said there isn't much difference so that's great and my husband will be delighted not to have to spend the money.

I had an original Sport where the back seat didn't recline at all back in the day, and I absolutely loved it. Am sure you'll be absolutely fine with the second hand one :) Enjoy!
