Help choosing a push chair

Hi,

MIL asked today if I've decided on a push chair and reminded me just how close it's getting now in terms of buying stuff. I kept telling myself November is ages away but I suppose in terms of pay days it's really not and all we've bought is a teddy bear!!! Aaaanyways MIL says she will buy the push chair (and a couple of other bits price dependant) which is fantastic, but now I have to choose a pushchair!

DH works a lot so I am doing the ground work and then showing him things to get his approval for purchasing. But I've not a clue which ones are good!

I think I know kind of what I want, I've been looking at some of those 3 in 1 ones, with the car seat, the carrycot and then the upright seating part for when a bit older. I think that would be more financially viable than buying another one a few months down the line.

We don't actually have a car anymore though (had to get rid last month Sad) so perhaps car seat isn't necessary but I just thought for if we get a taxi somewhere or if ILs visit and we drive somewhere it would be sensible to have.

Also I'd like the baby to be facing me while in the car seat/carry cot, however when sitting upright it might be nice to be front facing so the LO can see lots of things. Am I being too fussy? Grin

DH said the suspension and the type of wheels are important as we live in the scottish highlands and it apparently gets a bit nasty here in winter (and we'll be walking most places without the car). I don't drive so I've no idea about suspension and wheels etc.

So just wondering if anybody has any recommendations/reviews that could help me choose a good one Smile. Thanks in advance Thanks

The fact you want forward facing after the carrycot stage expands your options a considerable amount, especially if you are going to be looking at more of a terrain pushchair than a town one.

Depending on how terrain-y you need it to be I suggest you start off by looking at the baby jogger range - city mini gt, elite or possibly even a summit, all take a choice of carrycots and have large enough seats and easy folds that they could last you the pushchair distance.

I currently have a britax b motion, this would work for you too, it takes the britax carrycot and babysafe car seat. I prefer it to the baby joggers but should let it be known i'm in the minority here, baby joggers are so well liked!

You could also look at the mountain buggy swift or urban jungle.

Also the out n about nipper with carrycot, in general people are really happy with these and they are great quality for the price.

Have a google, do these look like the right type of thing or am i getting it wrong and you have something else in mind?

I have a baby jogger city elite, and find it fantastic. You can use it with a carseat and carrycot but it also has a lie flat seat so great for an older baby to nap in. It's a really good quality well thought out pram. Copes with rough terrain and has really good suspension and forever air tyres. I would definitely say it's one to consider based on your requirements.

I agree - look at the Baby Joggers - all of the range - the City Mini, GT, Elite, Summit and Versa. Look at the TFK Joggster Twist with Multi X Seat. The Mountain Buggy Urban Jungle. The Nipper. A BOB Revolution. An Easywalker MINI. ???
