Hi all

I have a 7 month old and we have the bugaboo bee. But he's a big chap and everyone comments that he looks too big in the bee! The thing is I love Bugaboo...do I upgrade to the cameleon which looks more roomy? Does anyone know roughly how long a bugaboo cameleon will last me? I don't want it to be a big waste of money yet at the same time I don't want him to look so uncomfortable in the bee! Help!!

Bee plus? Big 3 year olds fit nicely.. there's a good set of pics here showing the bee plus and the cam.

If you're talking about a 2009 bee then I guess the seat is narrower and I do recall putting 98 plus centile ds in one and essentially giving up as it just looked so cramped. The hood and seat wings don't help.

What are you expectations re space around your ds?

I have the latest one, I think its when he's in the parent facing mode everyone says he looks to big for the pushchair which is very frustrating!! They comment on how huge he looks, I could turn it the othher way but im not ready to have him facing out just yet. I think to purchase the other one would be too much of an expense. Maybe I should just learn to ignore peoples comments!!

Do you think he IS uncomfortable? Is he showing signs of being? The seat is no smaller rear facing but I guess the frame narrows.

Imho yes, learn to ignore Grin

I mean he does fill it out, but it's no different to filling out a MacLaren or other pushchairs. I guess forward facing his legs dangle off but there is a footrest for future use, whereas when you dangle of parent facing its into the air!! If that makes sense :)

Sure does make sense Smile Have you got the seat fully extended?

Babymaker11 · 21/06/2013 22:37

Yep! He's quite big, length and width ways ;) other option is to sell and buy something that will last him a lot longer? Any suggestions? Thanks.

My DD is still in a bee plus. 2 yrs old, 98th centile for height and weight. She still fits fine, even sleeps in it parent facing laying flat. I would just ignore people, sometimes it's just something to say.

^^ WSS

I think you will get comments on your "huge" baby whatever he rides in.

Unless he seems genuinely uncomfortable and is showing it or you're just looking for a reason to change the bee and try something else then I very much doubt you need to get rid of it realistically. My 98th plus centile ds still fitted in every pushchair I had at 2.5 and still fits comfortably now at approaching 6 in the city mini gt and britax b motion, I know because I took pics to show seat size even an off the centile charts 7 month old can only be so big compared to top centile 2 and 3 year olds, who can and do ride parent facing in bees. Now summer is here all I seem to see is bees :-D

I think TBH the Bee has a bigger seat than the Cameleon in the sense that it will truly grow with your child. I would ignore everyone and stick with your Bee unless you are wanting a change. My nearly 3 year old still has the Bee on the smallest settings and he has BAGS of room to grow. Remember too that children's legs grow more as they get older, rather than their backs / heads / shoulder height which will become more static. My two have had the same shoulder height in pushchairs from the age range of 10 months to 4.5 years in one pushchair. Their legs however have grown a lot!
