Buggy board or alternative with Icandy peach

I've ruled out a double buggy (or the double conversion kit for Peach) as my LO will be three when new baby arrives and is more than capable of walking most places, however when he starts pre school in September I want a back up, especially for the journey home!

I was told in John Lewis that a standard buggy board wouldn't fit on the frame of my Peach, but has anyone used one with a Peach?

Is anyone aware of other options as opposed to a buggy board - seen something online which looks like a little bike which connects to the side of the frame - anyone used one? or got any other alternatives?

I'm not keen on a carrier for the new baby - I just never felt comfortable using with DS1, and also it wouldn't work when baby is in pram/infant carrier for first few months as there is no way DS1 would fit in that!

any help much appreciated!

A Lascal Maxi buggy board does fit on the Peach frame, pretty sure the Lascal website confirms that too. I had it on my peach blossom (the double) and it was far too long and unwieldy so I got rid of it, but would imagine it would be ok if used on the peach as a single!

I ended up getting rid of my buggy board though, as my toddler refuses to ride on it (grrrr)

Just remember that adding a stroller board to an iCandy will invalidate your warranty if buying a new pushchair. iCandy say that their back axles are not designed to carry the weight of a toddler on them.

Thanks both

Tiggy I did wonder why Icandy advise against it, and why they haven't produced their own option so that explains it. Mine is well out of warranty so would be tempted to risk it from that perspective but from a safety point of view don't want an accident...

pebbles do you really not want the peach lower seat? It is such an elegant solution and the pram still pushes beautifully with it. You could get one secondhand for about £80 and then sell it on for the same amount afterwards I'm sure!

Size is a problem... My lo is three and is already a bit too big for the seat.... Legs everywhere! We bought the peach with the intention of converting to a double but ttc number 2 took much longer than we expected! Am pretty gutted not to have it as a double as I agree it looks and feels great!

Fair enough- the new lower seat is better for bigger toddlers though, as it doesn't have a rigid footplate. Their feet dangle into the basket if you see what I mean? The icandy website will tell you if your pram can take the new lower seat, and even if it can't, you can send the pram to them to be modified for £50 (I did this)

Unless I'm understanding wrong the elder one has to go in the top seat though don't they when you're using the blossom kit with the carrycot?

It's a pity iCandy don't make a buggyboard that would clip into the blossom kit lower sockets, LOADS of people would use that it would add so much more flexibility and also get around their "the frame isn't designed to carry the extra weight of a board" argument as the blossom kit must be tough enough for the 15kilos plus. I know there are other issues with stabity etc to consider but imo they're missing a trick on this by not allowing people to use their systems flexibly.

I totally agree!

Bad mummy here didn't bother buying the blossom carrycots. I've tended to put my youngest in the lower seat, then 23 month old in upper seat. Admittedly I've not had youngest in upper seat and toddler in lower seat, which I guess is what pebbles would have to do

FlamingGallah · 20/06/2013 14:16

Hey, Ihateparties you should seriously email icandy with that suggestion. A board that clipped into the adapters would be a fab idea

Ihateparties · 20/06/2013 14:48

I didn't have a carrycot either, had a wedge Grin but they still have to be in the lower seat, which is a pita really for the child on the cusp of coming out of a pushchair having to use the top seat.

pebbles1234 · 20/06/2013 19:20

That's a seriously good idea Ihateparties... Drop them a line!

I've got the carrycot (think I had pfb syndrome, wouldn't buy again!) but my seat and carrycot won't fit on the frame together, John Lewis said it would be a new seat, and the 50quid to adjust the frame - and given size and age just not worth it for us...

Saw a friend with the same dilemma today and she's given up and bought a cheap double in the kiddicare sale...
