Expensive so I need to research hard!

If you have one can you tell me the pros and cons. Worth the huge expense?
What extras would you get/not bother with? I'm a childminder so looks like the whole kit and caboodle might be useful!

And lastly where might I find the best cheapest deal?

No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had one, was great for first 8 months (DS was 18mo and DS2 newborn when first used) then it became MEGA HEAVY!!! I gave up after getting back ache.

Changed to Britax B Agile Double. I preffered the BJCMD except I am very short and the handle is so high up and I didn't want to spend the extra money on the BJCMDGT.

In hindsight, I wish I had bought the BJCMDGT in the first place.

I've got one and love it. Ds1 was 16 months when ds2 arrived. 20 months later I still use it when out for the day shopping etc.

I don't find it too heavy as I put the oldest in the top seat and youngest in bottom so the weight isn't over the front wheels. Works for me.

I bought the whole kit and got good use out of it.

Thing is with the mini double, I don't always need two seats, a single is very often all I need so the versatility really appeals.

Did you look at the smyths ones? The mobi is perfect for people with two over 6m as it's a really decent single - here.

Ditto an oyster max, icandy peach blossom or apple2pear, jane twone etc. - all massively lighter to push and turn than a select.

Having used 3 out of the 4 mentioned above plus some others imo the mobi stands its own amongst the much more expensive tandems and is very versatile for older children,it only really lacks a good newborn option beyond using a car seat.

Oh that looks lovely, thanks. Can it face parent? I've currently got a Jane Powertwin and that is ridiculously heavy I want to get rid.

Yes, it parent faces as a single but not in double mode.

It's physically very light, just under 12kilos, i have to lift mine sometimes without folding it and it's surprisingly easy.

It's easy to push along the flat but you need to two hands to turn it and on cambers, less so as a single than as a double. Tipping it up kerbs is diffiult without using your foot to help when a double, it's alright as a single. The handle is fixed and fairly low, depends on your height and how much that would bother you.

If you have a smyths locally it's definitely worth a look. The more expensive tandems are by and large better but this one is a bit of an anomaly among the cheaper ones in that it's better than you'd think iyswim. Also you could probably consider a b dual if you can live with a fairly big and wide single, they are often on offer.

Thank you- one last question...

What is the fabric? It looks like pleather in the pictures Hmm

OP posts:
Ihateparties · 07/06/2013 13:51

Grin Haha it's not pleather but it is very very purple... dunno what the logic is behind only doing purple, i know some people wouldn't find it unisex enough :-/

NarkyNamechanger · 07/06/2013 13:57

I quite like it and being a cm I'm not buying for a particular child but for me!

Thanks for the recommendation. I don't have a smiths local so might just need to go for it.

smyths

As long as you unbox things carefully and only try it out on carpet you can always return if you don't like it. There is always an element of personal taste.

Oh and it also comes with optional extender pieces to push the front seat up and forward if you want. If you use them it's a bit harder to turn etc but the lower child then has miles of space and much more view, plus the upper child can then recline too if necessary.

Just checked and it's out of stck :(
