I know what I want from a pram ... but do you know if it exists?

I am expecting dc3.

For my first two I used a Silvercross 3D, which I found quite cumbersome tbh.

What I want is a pram where the top is like a carrycot that can be lifted off and on.

Also I want a car seat that can easily be clipped onto a base. I need it to be really easy with no fiddling.

Is there one pram that combines both these?

If not, what are the best prams for each of the above criteria?

Bugaboo chameleon with maxi cosi car seat system.

Frankly this works so well it's marvellous. However, it's expensive. Presumably WHY it works so well..., :(

Mine was a gift. (Thanks mil!!!) I bought maxi. Was upset couldn't graduate to a donkey. Can't afford it!!!

You need to state £ required. I've got a phil and ted now and I hate it. HATE it. Horrid object.

Pram top converts to pushchair seat at 6mths too

BlueEyedLass · 03/06/2013 11:56

I really can't afford anything above £500 and even that will be a struggle tbh

Mamas and papas sola. I had one and loved it. You can buy a seperate carry cot for it, and a maxi cosi or mamas and papas car seat can be attached to the frame.

Loola? I had a Loola first time and the Loola Up second time, loved te Loola Up so much but I know that some people don't.

It had a sturdy carrycot that just clipped on, then a car seat that clipped on separately (which I believe you can get car seat bases for the car too but I didn't have that) and then the seat clipped on.

Mamas and Papas Sola here - really wanted an eye wateringly expensive iCandy Strawberry but it still hadn't arrived a week before Due Date so I cancelled the order and got the Sola - ex display, £185 frame and pushchair seat; plus carrycot for about £110; MaxiCosi car seat. All clips on and off.

The seat is suitable from birth but I wanted a proper carrycot for my little bundle (PFB). My friend has a Zoom and has the same carrycot so with hindsight, looks like all M&P carrycots have same fixings and I could have got it second hand and saved some ££. Oh well. Clip on/off is really easy, and while baby is light can be done with baby in situ (if asleep). Not sure thats recommended but worked for me. Wish I hadn't got separate moses basket as carrycot would have been fine.

I am really pleased with it.

If you like the petite star one you linked to blue try looking on nursery value website- they are much cheaper than mothercare. Just looked and they have it for £199. Think they are the manufacturers online outlet.

grassalwayslooksgreener · 03/06/2013 14:37

I have a Petite Star Kurvi and I love it! So easy to push and switch from carrycot to seat unit to car seat. Only downside is the tiny shopping basket.

NomDeClavier · 03/06/2013 14:58

Baby jogger city mini with hard carrycot.

However the carseat only clips on and off as long and you're using the carrycot as you can't fit the fabric seat with the adapters.

The other baby jiggers like the select may do that though.

silverangel · 03/06/2013 15:11

Baby jogger!

poocatcherchampion · 15/06/2013 12:49

oyster

nellyjelly · 15/06/2013 12:57

Sola is great. Looks nice, easy to use. Once ou have finished with carry cot, the buggy bit is fab too. Goes flat and is reversible so baby can face front or back. Lightweight and easy to put together.

dozily · 15/06/2013 13:07

I've got Britax B-smart which does all those things.

I got it new on ebay for about £130, bought a scond-hand carrycot also on Ebay for about £25 and used a Britax car seat I already had from my older dcs.

The pushchair seat reclines flat so you don't actually need a carrycot but I really liked having one.

It also fits a Lascal buggyboard really well.

extracrunchy · 15/06/2013 13:10

We had a Sola for a year, looked really great on paper but we had to send it in for repair 5 TIMES. Not especially heavy use (light daily walking on pavements) and the back wheels would just fly off! We were given a replacement chassis as apparently it's a common problem with a batch of them and it happened again. The final straw was when a front wheel just snapped off its axle - not popped out of the clasp (they are removable), but literally snapped. It seems to be very cheaply made.

We now have a Baby Jogger City Mini and love love love it.

fairimum · 17/06/2013 12:37

uppababy vista!!

LowLevelWhinging · 17/06/2013 12:42

another vote for BJCM. the adapters for the carry cot are different from the car seat ones, but they're dead easy to switch over.

it's a bloody brilliant pram frankly!

one handed fold and dead easy to push with one hand. solid and well made.

MaryKatharine · 17/06/2013 12:43

I second the uppababy vista. Like the bugaboo but much better. Ive had both. The carrycot is designed for safety so you can actually use it like a Moses basket. Maxi cost car seat fits on and off easy peasy. Shopping basket is amazingly big. It also has a built in sun shade under the hood of both the carrycot and the pushchair which pulls right down protecting baby from glare. It can also stand upright. It really is fab.

TallulahBetty · 17/06/2013 12:47

Oyster. Love it.

AmandinePoulain · 17/06/2013 12:50

Babystyle Oyster? Mine was £249 for the frame and seat, then £49 for the colour pack. The Britax Babysafe carseat clips straight in (£99); or you can use a maxicosi with adaptors. I borrowed a carrycot but you can buy them for £100. We have had issues with it - the handle, brake and folding clip all broke within the first 6 months of use but Babystyle customer services were great and either fixed it or sent out replacement chassises within a few days. It's a dream to push Smile.

RescueCack · 17/06/2013 12:50

If you are happy to buy used you can get the bugaboo of your dreams with £500. Personally that's what I would do. Mine was £150 and when I'd finished with it I sold it on for £130...
