Need help spotting fake bugaboo- can anyone help?

I just wrote this and it's gone so try again!

Basically I tried a friends cameleon and totally love it but my baby girl is now one so can't really justify the brand new price tag.
I'm a member of a Facebook buying and selling site and someone has just listed one with carry cot, buggy board, rain cover all for £250. She hasn't listed anywhere else and I'm only one interested. I asked where it's from and this is reply,

2nd gen. And i built it up from buying from genuine sellers in a bugaboo Facebook group. Chassis and frame where bought together. I traveled 4 hours to get seat Unit and carry cot. And hood apron and seat apron was bought from mothercare. Buggy board is from eBay

This seems a genuine reply but I'm nervous about getting a fake as they're dangerous! If anyone wants to see pictures I have a few I can send. I think I'm a bit suspicious as they go for at least £100 more than this on eBay so why not list on there, instead she put it on a Facebook group, no one replied so she's just put it in the loft? Sometimes if something seems to good it is and when it's my daughters safety I need advise before going to see it at the weekend!
Any advice or thoughts?

Honestly, I wouldn't put my child in something that hasn't been tested for safety standards. I'm not willing to risk my child's safety for a cheap stroller.

I would just buy a 2nd hand stroller, or a new one. Not something that someone has built.

I would ask a load of questions if you plan on going to see it.

Thanks for your reply, I'm completely agreeing now. All the guides are for spotting fakes but as but this has been built using a few different buggies, it could be a death trap.
It was my friends that's loved, chances are this wouldn't feel like that anyway.

Hi, I bought a 2nd gen cameleon about a month before they brought out the 3rd gen. It does sound a bit of a mix match as the person has gone to such lengths to get parts for the pram, most people would sell all the pieces together. I would personally buy a new one I know they are expensive but well worth it. I love my pram I am gutted that I will have to get the double as I'm pregnant again. But if you are considering getting that one every chameleon has a serial number on the chassis, ask the person if it has one then you will know for sure.

I've seen people doing this a lot on fb groups. They buy a seat here, fabric there and build themselves a unique pram. It's not that unusual, I just wouldn't have thought to do it myself!

Unless I'm missing something, this is what you mean by fake? Not as in counterfeit?

I'd be more concerned about handing money over and buying from a fb group if I wasn't picking the pram up myself. Because I've seen it a few times where people offer a "to good to be true" price and no pram actually materialises. Just a thought.

I have a 2 cameleons, (one which I will be selling shortly), cameleons have a serial number which can be verified with bugaboo to ensure there not fake, there have been cases of counterfit sp? Bugaboos on the market so if your unsure I would purchase from a site such a ebay as then you have back up if things do turn out for the worst, if you buy of Facebook the buyer could disappear never to be heard from again!

Didn't know counterfit prams exsisted! I would second what others have said and buy 2nd hand from ebay, atleast there is a record of where it is from then. With fb the seller could 'disapear'
