I'd like a new buggy for when dc2 arrives.

Currently got an oyster travel system (ok but ds grew out of at 1yo), a M&P 03 sport (fab for walking but doesnt fit in the boot of my new car) & a maclaren quest (not suitable for newborn). Thinking of selling all 3 & trying all over again to get 1 that will do everything we want.

Like the new silver cross wayfarer but on second look, suspension isn't all that great so want some alternatives to look at. Here's my list of requirements:

Excellent suspension - We like walking & want one that is smooth on pavement but can also handle a bit of off-roading

Both Parent & forward facing

Lie flat or carrycot option so I can use from newborn

Big enough seat unit to use beyond 1yo

Compact enough fold to fit in the boot of my A1!

Compatability with britax shr car seat (preferable as we already have one, but not essential as may be able to borrow a maxi cosi from sil if necessary!)

Phew not much then!!! So, pushchair experts, can you help me - does it even exist?!!!

Baby Jogger City Versa GT :)

Tiggywunkle · 27/05/2013 22:08

Or Easywalker MINI?

omama · 27/05/2013 22:42

Like the versa though yet to see one IRL so I'll have to keep my eye out! Wink

What's your views on bugaboo - cameleon or buffalo? just been searching & both seem to have decent suspension & large seats - just not sure if they'd fit in my car?

The easywalker mini I will give you... the Versa though... not in any way shape of form would I describe is as compact. The fold is excellent and as flat as they come but it's long and I bet you'd need to pop wheels to fit in an a1 boot...

omama do us a favour and get the approx dimensions of your boot please Smile

Tiggywunkle · 28/05/2013 11:51

I beg to differ Parties
It depends what dimensions you need "compact". The Versa is really flat with the seat taken off, and if you then remove the wheels then its one of the flattest and easiest to slide into a gap pushchairs there is!
Look! Its not as long as the June and certainly not much deeper even with the seat on (which could be removed). Yes its wider, but if you pop the wheels off (a 2 sec job) then there's not enough in it to quibble over!

Both the Cam and the Buffalo have larger folds, although again the Cam folds pretty flat. Its flatter than the Bee when folded.

Ihateparties · 28/05/2013 15:20

Small boots and wide are often an awkward combination is all I was thinking really, the flat baby jogger is good for small spaces but the shape is less ideal for a small car.

I googled the a1 boot though and it looks pretty deep at the base so this may be academic, it kinda looks like many things would fit in it tbh. I hated taking wheels off constantly.

This question though.. it's kind of the age old compact yet slightly terrain suitable thing. Normally one factor has to give somewhere along the line.

And as Tiggy says it very much depends what in what dimensions you need it to be compact.

rainbowfeet · 28/05/2013 15:25

New Bugaloo Buffalo only available to import from Europe until later this year I think but apparently is all terrain. & all weather!! Changes chassis configuration for snow & rocky paths etc... I googled & you tubed it..... Pram geek here!!! Shock fabulous looking but pricey!! There was one on eBay a while back with carry cot & seat unit but was £950!!!!!!!!!!! Confused

omama · 28/05/2013 18:58

Ihateparties - boot floor is 93cm long x 65cm wide (as in from rear seats to opening) x 45cm high but due to angle of back seats can prob only accommodate a buggy of 50-55cm width max. If its a relatively flat fold it could probably be a bit wider.

I already have to take the wheel off the oyster to fit it in the boot & its a pain in the ass so dont wanna have to do that if poss but of course if there's no option i'll have to!

Seems there's a compromise between all terrain & compact then - just pity as space is the non-negotiable! Beginning to wonder why i downsized my car at all - duh!

We had the exact same requirements and we've gone for the Jane trider matrix have to say it is amazing the cot is a car seat which can go on the frame and then pushchair seat is fab

It's brilliant at off roading we live near the beach n walk the sea defences and over sand also great for walking in the woods

You can steer it one handed

Downside it's heavy

Ihateparties · 28/05/2013 19:52

Bother.. at the car bit. A versa may actually fit because it is pretty flat but if you have to take a wheel off the oyster I doubt it.

This is very much my area, narrow and robust/slightly terrain and i'm coming up empty handed, for myself as well as you unfortunately! The easywalker mini is a maybe but i would need to see feel and push one before any kind of committment to that idea. Otherwise you have the trifold type things - jane solo reverse, cross reverse, new maxi cosi loola 2 etc. Then the couple of narrower full featured options of the bee and wayfarer. Everything else mentioned so far, although independently pretty damn good, is going to be a wheels off job.

So it does, in essense come down to size or off road/terrain capability/robustness Sad

omama · 29/05/2013 22:06

Bother indeed!!!

Ok so thinking about it, if I keep what I've got I'll have to take a wheel off anyway, so if i can live with that does it open up anymore options?

Thought the bee was more an urban pushchair? I live in a rural area so want one that'll cope with rough pavements. Love love the wayfarer but same concern that suspension no different to oyster. If its a softer ride & it fits in car it'd still be a contender. Easywalker mini - fits the bill but wld def need to see it. As for bugaboo - timing of buffalo release is perfect (winter baby), price not-so Shock. Is the cam not really suitable for rougher terrain? One last Q - anyone got any experience of the icandy peach jogger?

Aaaaaaarrrrrggggghhhh too many to choose from!!!!!

In mean time I'm def gonna check out the versa as that looks so far like it ticks the most boxes.

Thanks all.x

Yes I love the Peach Jogger, but I prefer it for walking / off road. I prefer my Peach for shopping with as the swivel wheels make a difference. The Peach Jogger and Peach together are a winning combination though :)
The Cam isnt the best for rough terrain - if it was an occasional outing then fine, but theres much better eg the Buffalo or Versa GT for all terrain.

omama · 30/05/2013 22:11

thanks for that, sounds like it could be a good option for our needs. I'll def check it out alongside the versa. Going on tues & hoping to see both!

omama · 04/06/2013 19:27

Ok so i hit pram shop.

Saw the versa (they didnt have the gt) & also checked out the cam. Tried both in car boot & surprisingly they both go in with 1 wheel off which is what I'd have to do anyway if I kept the oyster. The versa feels a lot more solid than the bugaboo, I thought the cam's handle felt pretty flimsy & it seemed quite a clat to fold/unfold it too. However, it wins hands down on looks.

Funnily enough the shop owner really tried to steer me to the bugaboo bee - compact, from birth, extending seat for older toddlers, all round suspension. It certainly ticks the most boxes on paper, but i'm not too sure. It felt very wobbly to push & I'm not convinced how well it'd cope with bumpy paths, grass, the beach etc. If anyone can set my mind at ease it might become a contender!

OP posts:
wallpaperaddict · 04/06/2013 21:20

My bee copes with grass ok ish, but is dreadful on bumpy uneven paths and if you want to take it on the beach then you'd need to carry it! If you've got a britax carseat have you considered any of the britax prams? B motion or B agile?

Tiggywunkle · 04/06/2013 22:10

The Versa is a much better all rounder than the Bee. The Bee only comes out on occasions with us - usually summer and for light use. The Versa can be taken anywhere, any time, on any occasion and hasnt let us down so far. I would get the Cameleon before the Bee any time TBH.

omama · 05/06/2013 21:13

Thanks wallpaper & tiggy.

I was surprised he suggested the bee, but i don't think he listened past the fact I've got a small car, to what I actually want to use my buggy for & whilst I can see the bee will be good in a city or at the shops, I don't think it will meet our needs.x

Oh i'm a lovin my new b motion. Dc3 had an original b agile with carrycot and i liked that a lot too, the motion is all improvements. It's a great shame they don't make a parent facing option i know they could because i once put my b dual seat on the agile using the carrycot/carseat adaptors
