Can anyone recommend a lightweight stroller with a carry strap? For 3 yr old (don't judge!)

DS is 3.5 and hasn't had a buggy for yonks, but as part of our new health kick, DP and I are taking lots of long ambles along the promenade where we live.

DS is a great walker but obviously gets tired long before we do, so we're looking for recommendations for a very lightweight buggy we can carry with us that he can hop into when his legs get tired. He currently gets shoulder rides but he's tall and chunky and poor DP's neck and back are finding it hard.

Can anyone help? TIA

How about a sling instead? Google sling library near where you are and someone should be able to advise you about carrying someone your DS's age and you can try before you buy.

If you're mostly carrying it I'd say a volo. It's not the nicest push ever but I am not aware of anything lighter, and mine has a carry strap.

I totally agree with the preschooler size sling suggestion. The toddler patapum isn't that big but either the preschool rose and rebellion, or the toddler Tula would be a good bet.

If you're near a sling library you could hire one for a couple of weeks to see if you're not sure about carrying a 3 year old. Www.babywearing.co.uk/localsupport will tell you where the nearest is if you put in your postcode

Volo is fab. If you take the hood off it in even smaller and lighter.

I bought an m&p trip? I think it was for £40 just for Disney when DS was 3.8 it's fine weights about 5kg.

I have the same issue with my 3.5 year old and have just bought an Action Baby Carrier in toddler size. I don't know much about slings in general but I'm very happy with it so far. Much prefer it to hauling the buggy about.

No judging here. (I got really pissed off with people with cars telling me I didn't need a buggy. Not that I'm bitter...).

FWIW I used sling with ds2 till he was almost 3 but I'm not sure I could have started using one at that point without having built up my back/shoulder strength over the previous 3 years.

When I stopped using the sling (about 3) I used a very cheap lightweight buggy (£12 from Argos, I think). I fixed a strap to it so I could sling it over my shoulder. If you're going to be walking along the prom (prom prom) you won't need anything too sturdy and off-roady, I guess.

The scooter option didn't work for me as ds2 was a bolter with no sense of danger.

I've carried my 3.8 year old in a rose and rebellion. It was so easy.

I walk everywhere as don't have car and nearest town is 3 miles away. I get really sick of people with cars saying ds should walk I think a 6 mike round trip is too much for a 3 year old!

If you promise not to let go of it then we loved our Yezz - that was until we did let go of it and it tipped and hit my DCs head on the hard floor. But it would meet your requirements. That and the YoYo. We have been known to tow along a Noa either.

Maxi Cosi Noa or Volo. The advantage of Noa is that you can wheel it instead of carrying it (although the Volo is very light). I prefer the build quality of the Noa, it has a proper recline and brakes. We do have the old Volo though which has neither and seemed quite uncomfortable for DS.
