Tandem for buses

For the in laws when they have twins for 1-2 days a week.
They catch the bus when it's dry but it needs to fit in their vauxhall insignia boot as well (which is big I think).
Babies will be 9 months when they go there.
Would like to buy second hand but would be prepared to spend for the most compact/appropriate buggy.
I'm a side by side type person so haven't looked into tandems at all. What should I be looking at?

I have an iCandy Peach Blossom 2. It comes with a hefty price tag though . That said, I've been able to take it on the bus with the carrycots (my twins are only 4 months), and can get it in the boot of my car, which isn't huge (Audi A3). It's really easy to manoeuvre too and great to push. It suits me down to the ground, but I was after a travel system. If you're just looking for a stroller others might be able to suggest alternatives.

Someone recommended the oyster max to me and I went to look at one yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised how compact and light it was, but I haven't actually used one yet as I'm not due for a little while.

Had tandem too long ago to recommended specific model (tandem was great though as narrow and fitted everywhere!) but just wanted to say test drive with both children before buying. They feel very different when empty and steering, bumping up pavements very different on different prams. Wriggle it about in a shop and see if you can do wheelies for the curbs!

If there is always going to be the two GP's why not get two singles or an easily foldable side by side like the BJCM?

I had a bad experience with trying to fold a Britax B-dual tandem on a packed bus once. Had a sleeping 17 month old, a newborn, a load of shopping and a bus full of grumpy pensioners shouting helpful things like "In my day we walked" and "who does she think she is"
Ended up waiting 50 minutes for the next bus with the three of us in tears.

To be honest, your choices are limited by the age of your children ie both being 9 months. Both will still want to nap at some point during a reasonable outing, and finding a tandem with two good reclining seats and yet is manoeuverable enough to fit onto a bus would be hard. I suspect unless you are prepared to throw a good amount of money at something like a Peach Blossom 2, or a Baby Jogger City Select then the B-Dual or two singles is probably your best option until they are bigger.

If you want cheap I've been using a phil and teds sport which I paid £70 for, happy on buses with it but does have a length which might be an issue on small buses.

We have a Baby Jogger City Select which is suitable for napping 9 month' olds and fits on buses and in black cabs. Not cheap or light, though.

I have the oyster max tandem, its light for a tandem, lots of configurations, folds down well (with effort, removing seats etc..) and wheels can be removed for small boot. Downsides is that the lower seat doesn't recline very far, not terribly comfortable for long naps.
