casualplay livi - when's it due out?

Hi, does anyone know when the UK release is? I emailed the company a couple of weeks ago but they haven't replied.

also, does anyone know if it be folded with one hand? I'm trying to decide between the livi and a babyzen yoyo.

Hi Ihateparties.

I've had another play and have decided that I should probably look for something else. I keep trying to persuade myself it would be ok but in reality if I was in a shop deciding whether to buy it I probably wouldn't be getting out my cards.

I tried squeezing the buggy against my leg to close it but you end up pressing the hard metal bar that the brake is on into your shin so that's not really a goer. There is so little slack in the locking strap you really do need both hands to do it up and to undo it and this also involves bending down quite far which wouldn't be any good holding DS. I did also get some velcro one tape to see if I could rig up my own closing strap but that didn't work either.

There is a bit of suspension on the front wheels but I can't see any on the back. Obviously I haven't taken the buggy out so I have no idea how well the front suspension works.

The seat back doesn't go completely upright, so not 90 degrees from the seat base. It's nore like 110 degrees or so. DS seemed happy enough at that angle because the sides are very open compared to the Vista seat so he could see out really well.

I haven't fallen in love with the Livi and I won't be tearful to sell it because it doesn't do what I need re opening and closing but I don't dislike it. I'm no expert like you and Tiggy but IMHO it seems like a nice enough little buggy and I'm sure some people would really like it. The only other thing that I was a bit disappointed with was that the fold wasn't as small as I had imagined but that's not the buggy's fault!


The only question now is how much should I sell it for? I paid £198.

Yes the seat is a decent size and it reclines pretty far back. Not completely flat but almost there.

If I'd kept it and had another baby I would probably have put the snug seat we got for the Vista on the Livi so there was more support for a very little one but I think then it would have been fine.

That's actually one of the reasons I will be sad to part with the Livi as i know the shelf like of the yoyo will be shorter.

I can only hope that by the time I'm in a psoition to need a buggy I can open and close one handed and have DC2 that something else has come out, or that DC2 likes a sling/carrier better than DS did/does.

The fold sounds really disappointing :(
I didnt think the fold was that big when we saw it. Certainly there is very little which folds down to that size.

I have just been looking at the measurements for the Livi and the YoYo and TBH the YoYo isnt that much smaller although the top of the YoYo is more open when folded IYKWIM.

Livi: 48.5 x 59.5 x 30 cms
YoYo: 44 x 52 x 18 cms

So yes the YoYo is slimmer by 22cms, but the other measurements arent far off the same as the Livi.
Certainly the Livi has more to offer eg seat size, recline options, lift up calf rest etc. It is definitely a more substantial pushchair.
But the YoYo does have the autolock and is one handed once you have done the top handle fold (and the child can stay in at that point). But you do have to get down low to do the final part of the YoYo fold.

I think as you say there are pros and cons. I think the Livi will obviously be more suitable for anyone with a newborn, and like you say, you could use a snug insert to make it feel more secure. I think the Livi may also appeal to anyone with an older child who wants a longer seat back.

I would love to see the two pushchairs side by side TBH.

If I didn't have to make sure I could open and close the buggy one handed l would be keeping it. closing it two handed is very easy, i just don't think i can juggle holding DS, squating down and leaning over to pull the locking strap whilst pushing the buggy toward the strap with my other hand.

It definitely has a lot going for it and is still a compact fold, smaller than just the chassis for the vista, it was just taller folded than i had imagined from the video.

If anyone is interested in buying it let me know. I'm not sure how much i'd want for it - i would have to chat with DH, or I could put it on ebay

Nam your Livi now has a very happy home with me! I have to say I love it. Parties had a good look over it, and told me it was right up my street (well it was up hers too but she's got enough toys) and so she kindly brought it to me this weekend.

I have been out with it this week and love it. Its bigger than the YoYo - but I knew this - and it brings with it advantages such as a bigger seat size, calf rest, bigger basket (I got 3 lunchboxes and my handbag in it today) which makes it better for a holiday. I find the fold clasp hard to push off, and TBH I have taken to folding the Livi and just putting it in the boot without the fold strap on. That way, its easy to slide out of the car with it almost open by the time it hits the floor.

What did surprise me - probably ironic considering I am comparing the Livi to the YoYo - is that the Livi fold is very very similar to the start of the Recaro Babyzen ie fold the hood down and then the handle. I do find having to put the hood down a bit of a pain, but the actual folding movement is easier than the YoYo which needs a bit of a flick of the wrist.

Its probably very excessive to have a Livi and a YoYo in the boot of the car! I will take some side by side photos when I get chance. They are both totally my type of pushchair! I just wish you had bought black ;)
