So I have been pram searching for the last couple of weeks (Currently 22 weeks with DS1) and I am slowly losing the will to live.

Have managed to narrow it down to the following, they are all within budget as far as I can tell.

*Obaby Zezu Pramette
*Cosatto Giggle 3 in 1
*Babystyle Oyster

Does anyone have any experiences with these prams? Or have any other recommendations that are similar in price?

I have owned none of these prams but i wouldn't get the 3 wheeled cosatto giggle as apparantly the front wheel assembly is basically held on by a bit of plastic. There are some videos posted on youtube where it has broken just above the front wheel.

stacey212528 · 31/03/2013 20:13

Oh really? Will look into that, thanks! x

Not one on your list but I had the mothercare Xtreme, its such a lovely buggy, big basket, and a dream to push on any terrain and half price so £200 with a carseat, its pretty big but fits in my little corsa fine :)

Ihateparties · 01/04/2013 13:41

From the list you already have you're looking at something that faces both ways at a budget of about 300-400? The oyster would be all of that with the carrycot. Other things to look at might include:

Mutsy Evo. From birth, carrycot optional.

My Child Pinto. I like the new one with the lie flat instead of bucket shaped seat but either if you want a carrycot.

The New Loola but i'm not sure on price yet though. I don't love the look but the fold was great with the seat parent facing and the push seemed smooth.

Something new and unproven but the Way Mar looks pretty great. I'm totally being influenced by looks here Grin

If you could find a good deal then a Baby Jogger City Versa might just sneak into budget, they're fab.

Hi i'm a newbie, due october and thought would share my recent research so far on maxi cosi pushchairs as these mentioned a few times. My challenge: i drive a Fiat 500! I love it and really do not want to change it. Compact fold, weight, practicality and looks all important to me (yes I want it all!) Apologies now for long post but is all my thoughts in case helpful...

Saw the maxi cosi New Loola and Elea at the NEC baby show just last Weekend. New Loola going to be about £300 i think, cheaper with shop offers no doubt, but not in shops until mid/late June 13. It looks very similar to the Elea (£400, often £320ish on offer) some frame styling differences but practical features similar. What i liked/comparisons:
-one handle easy push (felt slightly smoother on elea)
-can face seat either way in any recline position on both
-genuine completely lie flat for newborn on both
-plus 2 other seat recline positions for older babies on both
-do not need to push, hold and lift seat detach buttons at same time; has convenient 'memory' buttons, press one each side then lift off - nice and easy! (On both)
-relatively easy to fold and erect both, and can fold with seat on. to fit in my boot you remove seat (easy) frame then folds really compact (less than half size of when seat on) and stands up vertically, good if you are limited for space storing it at home (though elea frame folds shorter than new loola, and I know definitely fits in my boot, kiddicare showed me! Elea rear wheels are large, though quick release style, I didn't need to remove them to fit frame in my boot but if they were mucky I would and put them in a plastic bag, and its very very easy to do).
-both have fair basket size and new loola basket even looked a little bigger than the elea's!
-both come with gorgeous snuggley 'nest' to use with lie flat position, perfect for my A/W baby, which means no need to necessarily buy carry cot (unless you really want one)
-both include attachments at no extra cost for maxi cosi cabriofix and pebble car seats.
-both come with big rain cover
-both have extendable sun canopy via zip which is great for lie flat position and I expect sleeping!
-both have swing away child grab bar, one button action
-both have adjustable height handlebar, I'm 5'9 so love the full height option
-both have change bag hooks between handle bars designed for maxi cosi black change bag (buy seperately) which would help keep basket free for shopping if important to you.
-new loola is narrower set up than elea, so good for narrow hallways, buses, tight shops etc.
-I could lift parts easily and the most exercise I do is swim once a week!
-new loola colour options: modern black (all blk with a leopard pattern woven subtly into fabric - google pebble to see example), graphic crystal (black with white geometric patterned fabric inside making nice and light), origami rose (pink).Lady on stand said pebble car seat available in matching colours (if important to you) except graphic crystal pebble not available until September-ish.
That is all I can remember.
I will go for one of these as very practical for my needs, compact fold options, weight good for me and although not as swish looking as the less practical brands (in my opinion) I do like overall look, nice fabrics/seat padding and love love love the nest, plus fact I don't need to buy any accessories to meet my needs.
I am undecided until I can try the new loola in my car boot, as you don't get much less at all for the likely £ saving vs elea. My husband prefers styling of elea and the big rear wheels could be more comfy ride. Though both have 'puncture proof' plastic wheels so they aren't designed for extensive outdoor use.

If uneven ground is your challenge I'd look at something like Baby Jogger City Mini, compact, light, simple fold 3 wheeler with inflatable wheels, think seat only outward facing but does lie flat. My sister is going for this one because lives by a park and wants to walk to shops etc, plus has great reviews on here and reasonably priced. I drive everywhere so not important to me.

Happy shopping Smile

MultipleMama · 27/05/2013 13:59

Have you thought about the switch strolller? I've seen it quite a few times when out and about. Also the mamas n papas Skate.

TinyCC · 27/05/2013 20:15

You have the same short list as me! I've read a few bad reviews about the cosatto giggle's front wheel falling off, but apart from that it looks quite good.

We need something narrow (as our front door and hall way isn't wide), I want reverse facing as a buggy, and a carrycot that can be used for daytime sleeping.

Ihateparties · 27/05/2013 21:07

At 60cm wide the giggle is very much an average width, any number of other options are the same or a cm or two narrower Smile Same applies to parent facing and carrycot for daytime sleeping.

My very first pushchair had a wheel falling off issue, it happened twice, both times whilst crosssing the road. It's not fun, broken pushchairs generally aren't, I'd be looking for something with a better reliability record.Hopefully Cosatto will look at the giggle as there have been a couple of threads on here highlighting different issues with them.

RayofSun · 27/05/2013 21:14

Baby jogger city mini. The best buggy ever. Nuff said.

TallulahBetty · 27/05/2013 21:21

Oyster. Love love love it.

fudge74 · 27/05/2013 21:21

Whatever your choice, this is my advice:
Please, save yourself money and get a 2nd hand system, with chassis, carrycot, pramseat (and new car seat if you are bothered) honestly you only use if for the first 6 months or so, then you'll get a Maclaren stroller (which will get used for 3 years!) so don't wast your money, really!!!
I got a lovely Mothercare Xcursion on ebay for £60 last year which did me proud till the Maclaren came out (that had done two precious DCs!).

TinyCC · 27/05/2013 21:33

Thanks fudge, I think you're probably right. Might have to raid a few car boot sales as well over the next few months.

Stacey, will be interested in seeing what you choose in the end.

fudge74 · 28/05/2013 19:10

look on www.thebabyfair.co.uk to see if any sales coming up nr you as well as NCT sales - i did a table at a baby fair and made hardly anything - there were so many sellers it was great for buyers - you can really pick up a bargain!

chocolatemartini · 28/05/2013 19:36

See the maclaren thing is what everyone said to me, so I got one suitable from birth, hated it (gave me back ache to push, not enough storage, screaming baby I couldn't see) DS hated it (he wanted to be parent facing, prefers a bucket type recline for napping) and we have ended up with a full on travel system proper pushchair. Much better, and although heavier, much easier to push.

TallulahBetty · 29/05/2013 07:29

We've been using our Oyster for 18 months. Not at all tempted to get a MacLaren stroller. Bit misguided to say they WILL end up getting one Hmm

Wishfulmakeupping · 29/05/2013 07:37

We brought an oyster it's very light and easy to get up/put down and the adjustable handle height are fab for us. We got the pearl so can't change the colour- but I think the colour packs look fab

forevergreek · 29/05/2013 07:37

Yes we have been using cameleon for two children the last 3.6 years. Never been tempted to get Maclaren. Very time Iv pushed friends I can't steer and it's heavier than ours. Baby never sleeps well in comparison.

poocatcherchampion · 29/05/2013 21:57

we love the oyster, but also love our buggy as well. keep the oyster in the car and the stroller in the hallway. something for every occasion.

sadly I now need a double. can't find any I like.

Tiggywunkle · 29/05/2013 22:15

If you buy the righe pushchair first time, you will never ever want to swap it for an umbrella fold pushchair.

Tiggywunkle · 29/05/2013 22:15

right..not righe!

TinyCC · 02/06/2013 21:05

Just wanted to say thanks to Fudge for making me see things entirely rationally and that I didn't need to spend hundreds on a brand new travel system, especially on bits that would only be used for a few months. Have just picked up a babystyle Oyster with carrycot, stroller, colour pack and loads of accessories for a little over a hundred quid.
Now I just need to avoid becoming obsessed with buggies and collecting them like boys collect cars :D

fudge74 · 03/06/2013 13:18

Grin thanks for that and well done on your bargain oyster! good luck with finding lots of other bargains and start saving for those flute lessonsGrin
