Pushchairs/Prams on the market

Why is it impossible to find a classic navy pram? I have searched the shops and internet for a classic modern or vintage navy pram and the only option is a Silver Cross which is sadly totally impractical for my needs despite being beautiful!
Is it too much to ask that the manufacturers make a classic navy rather than black or unsightly neon green or pink... so many ugly colours on the market.
I do not want my child to look like it is in a circus tent when I am our for a walk!
Anyone have any other options?

silver cross used to do a grey colour would you consider that? not sure if they still do. Its a good point, like you I don't like the bright colours of some prams so had boring black. I would have got a navy one in a heartbeat.

At the moment, I am considering the all black bugaboo chameleon. However if I can find a navy pushchair (even better a travel system) I will buy instantly! Its such a shame, there is a massive gap in the market I think... the old Silver Cross prams were beautiful with the chrome chassis... but who had over £1,000 for a pram you cant fit in a car!

Emmaljunga do navy, I saw one in a shop literally this afternoon, this one but there are other chassis styles. At a guess maybe Teutonia do navy. There is a navy Silver Cross Surf also.

I wouldn't choose a pram based on its colour at all though, it's more important to me that it fits into my life and what I need to use it for, otherwise it ends up being lovely but effectively useless oh yes I have indeed been there

MadStaringEyes · 09/03/2013 22:13

I had a mamas and papas pliko switch with carry cot in a lovely navy with cream. I'm struggling to find a picture of it, and I don't really want to think to my fb.

MadStaringEyes · 09/03/2013 22:18

This is it. It was much nicer irl, but still a total pita.

New uppababy colour for this year is a navy. It's gorgeous. Search uppababy vista Taylor x

nancerama · 09/03/2013 23:06

The iCandy Cherry limited edition is navy and lovely. It's worth buying for the bag alone.

Ihateparties · 09/03/2013 23:20

Oooh good shout for the cherry, the Navy cherry is really lovely!

AmyElizabeth85 · 10/03/2013 22:56

Thanks for all the suggestions, i know I seem very fussy, but even the majority of these have black chassis' or more than two colours on the rest of it. I would really love a plain, classic navy pram - I fear it may be impossible. I will continue my Ebay search and more than likely end up with the bugaboo...

I don't know if we're getting the idea here, lots of the above are navy with a silver chassis.. are we missing something?

The cherry has a pale colour inside the hood.
The emmaljunga same with a small amount of pale piping.
Here is a navy Mutsy Evo.
A navy silver cross surf.
Classic Navy Jane Rider..

I could keep going but I won't... Is it because they also have cream and black parts? I'm confused, looks to me like there are a plenty of navy prams...

abbyfromoz · 10/03/2013 23:27

I have the all black bb chameleon. It's lovely. Very pleased with it. Good luck with this important purchase Wink

forevergreek · 10/03/2013 23:33

You can get the limited addition add black chassis bugaboo cameleon. And then just change hood/ out covers to the blue option. Then whole thing is just black and blue

Tiggywunkle · 10/03/2013 23:34

I had navy tailored fabrics for my Cameleon.

MortifiedAdams · 10/03/2013 23:38

this navy stroller is.compatable with a carrycot.and a car seat making it a travel.system. I have it in black and love.love it.

Im sorry, though, but I really dont know what sort of pram you are thinking of....I had an image in my head of.a silver cross but it seems thats not what you mean.

AmyElizabeth85 · 11/03/2013 16:18

I think its the fact the chassis' have two colours rather than one... I want something like this - www.babybirds.co.uk/shop/images/kensingtonnavy.jpg
but that suits modern life...

Ihateparties · 11/03/2013 16:35

I still don't get it, you want white wheels? Do you mean the chassis has silver and black plastic parts and wheels etc.? Otherwise I don't see that any of them have two coloured chassis..

MortifiedAdams · 11/03/2013 16:39

this?

GwendolineMaryLacey · 11/03/2013 16:45

I don't understand the problem. Here's a good second hand one on eBay or buy one new.

Dillydollydaydream · 11/03/2013 16:54

something like this?

AmyElizabeth85 · 11/03/2013 16:57

I think I will find what I am looking for on Ebay rather than in Mothercare or John Lewis...
Its hard to explain, but my ideal is a Silver Cross Kensington - Navy body and silver chassis - no other colours or plastic brakes etc...

nancerama · 11/03/2013 18:35

I have an old 70's Restmore pram, almost identical to the Silver Cross. It was my pram when I was a baby and is a beautiful thing. It was one of 4 built to give to the Royal Family as wedding gifts for each of the Queen's children. My father and grandfather worked for the company and when the factory was closing and my mother was pregnant she was given the pram intended for Prince Charles.

My mum kept it for me to use for my DC. We cleaned it up and have never used it. Unfortunately they are just not practical for modern life.

It's no longer the done thing to leave one's PFB parked outside a shop, and it's just too cumbersome to fit through doorways and a nightmare to steer.

If you're planning lengthy strolls on paved promenades, then I'm sure it's ideal, if you actually want to use it for day to day life, you may need to rethink.

nancerama · 11/03/2013 18:44

Sorry if my last post sounded negative. I don't want to shatter your dreams of transporting your little one in stylish luxury. I really really wanted to use a coach built pram but it just wasn't possible for me. I'd hate to see you spending a huge wad of cash on something that sits in your garage gathering dust.

It's too big to fit on a bus and would never go in a car. Modern buggies are more transportable, if less refined and elegant.
