Need some help with a bigger buggy for 3YO? Very fussy!

Am feeling quite out of the loop since having triplets 3.5 yrs ago, and obviously having to have huge gigantic triple buggies (had virtually every buggy on the market before then!). One of DTrips has a longish-term illness kind of thing, and gets tired pretty easily; so although they are starting school in September, we are going to be pretty active and going on long walks this summer so want a decent off-roader so that she can hop in if necessary.
Currently have an ABC triple, and still use it on occasion as my girls are quite young for their age, and as busy public places aren't too easy with triplets, they have been bribed into the buggy for longer than the average child, I suppose.
Have also currently got a Bee+ and a Nuna Pepp, but just feel that we need a proper sturdy buggy? Thinking along the lines of a Mountain buggy?
We do quite a few beach trips (not brilliant with Bee/Nuna) and days out so want a bigger buggy that we can load full of crap for the day! Again, Bee and Nuna aren't great for this (despite being brilliant buggies!)
Am afraid that I'm quite fussy - absolutely do not want an umbrella fold pop up buggy, and not a BJCM either.
Did think a P&T maybe? I had one as a double for my older 2 girls and really liked it on the rare occasion that I got to push as a single.
Thank you in advance :)

p&t, although the newer ones are hard to get up kerbs, the sport is my fav, bob revolution [would have to import though, but amazon.com sell them] tfk joggster.
with the p&t's you could use the double seat to hold all your shopping/things for day out too

Thanks uho - I do really like the P&T, and had a Sport a few years ago. I always had my eldest in the back seat so that they could hop in and out, and so I could keep my bags in the back!
Bob revolution looks good - lovely big wheels. BIL lives in US so any american buggies wouldn't be too hard to get shipped.
Is there any TFK joggster in particular you'd recommend? I really like the look of the X2 :)
Thanks for the recommendations!

The Joggster Twist has a huge seat and basket.
Its a lovely pushchair with really padded seats.
You can get the Buddy seat for the back for another tired toddler :)

I have been working my way through the Mountain Buggies and compared to say the Baby Joggers, or the TFKs the seats on them are surprisingly shallow and the leg length isn't that good.
When I read your post though, the Baby Jogger Versa GT sprang to mind. Have you looked at that one?

KateShmate · 08/03/2013 16:32

Tiggy Was hoping that you would send some of your knowledge my way!
Have just had a look at the BJV GT and just not too keen - not sure what it is, I think it's the shape at the front?
If I'm honest, the huge seat wouldn't be too much of an issue as she really is only quite a small 3YO - she still easily fits in the Nuna.
I'm not sure what it is about the MB's that I like - I think it's the aluminium frame; it just makes it look really sturdy.
I can't explain it, but apart from my ABC, I've often gone for the look of the buggy - always wanting the latest, most-wanted buggy, but this time I feel like I want something more sensible? (Maybe I have matured?!) And the look of the MB is attracting me the most.
I really like the TFK X2, but I can't tell if it's a bit plastic-y? Not sure if the black is doing it for me?
How are the seats on the Cameleon3?

I can well understand you being attracted to the MB's...believe me I have bought most of them now - Mini, Swift, Urban Jungle, +One and Duet - mainly because I like the look of them, but one by one they have been sold and I know absolutely there is better out there. I haven't seen the TFK X2 - I had the Joggster Twist and I loved the chunky metal chassis. It really is a fab pushchair.
I have to say, I have just bought a Nipper (bearing in mind I have an Urban Jungle at present) and the Nipper really is lovely to push and I love all the storage (although less so the new style baskets). I love the UJ basket though.
I think the Cameleon seats are good. I can't wait for the Buffalo though.

KateShmate · 09/03/2013 21:57

Tiggy How have you had/got so many buggies?! Feeling extremely jealous....!
We had a double MB (I can't remember which one) for the triplets when they were little as we wanted an off-roader. In fact, they do a triple MB and we bought that with the double and single carrycot, but realised that all 3 could fit inside a double carrycot, so swapped the triple MB for the double.
I've had a double Nipper before, but I recall that the seats were quite laid back? I may be wrong, but I'm sure that I loved the buggy itself (turns on a teeny sixpence!) but I have a feeling that my 3YO might get a bit annoyed with being slightly reclined all the time? But then again, I suspect that is probably similar with most big 3-wheelers.
Maybe I should start looking at Cameleon's too then... not sure I can wait for the Buffalo! It doesn't look too different from the Cam - have read a few basic specs, but would've thought that Bugaboo's next buggy would have been a lot different. Was hoping for a tandem Bee+!

The Nipper has had a revamp - the seats are more upright, the recline is much better, there's a swing away bumper bar, adjustable handlebar and best of all its only 72cms now!
I took the single Nipper out today and I noticed that my 2 and a half year old pulled himself (and the fabric) forwards if he wanted to sit upright. With the bumper bar that was fine. Its definitely not as laid back as our V1 one was. Plus our 4 year old was in it later in and day and she loved it. She hated being reclined when she was younger, but loves the Nipper (we had a double until recently) for some reason. My main downside is that the harness is HUGE! I am going to have to put a Houdini stop on ours and my LO was constantly taking his arms out.

A tandem Bee++ would be fabulous!!

KateShmate · 10/03/2013 19:48

Tiggy You may have persuaded me - I've just looked on the out'n'about website and do really like the look of the new single!
I'm tempted to go for the Sport; purely for the reason that I don't like the foot rest on the 360 V2 - there's just nothing there.. fine for a small child, but for a 3.5YO, they have to dangle their legs or tuck them right up which can't be comfy?
Straps shouldn't be an issue for us as the buggy is more for her than us - she chooses to go in when she gets tired so hopefully won't be jumping out!
Have always thought that a tandem Bee would just be awesome! Maybe I should get myself on Dragon's den!
Think I'll have to do some more research into the Nippers, and maybe even the Cameleon3 too...!!
