Final double decision - Peach Blossom 2?

Hello everyone

Sorry this is so long.

DC2 is due in July, when DS will be 23 months so I'm looking for a double.

  • DS still naps so I need both seats to recline
  • I live in Central London and walk A LOT as well as using the tube, buses and trains
  • I don't use my car a huge amount. It's an estate so buggy size isn't really an issue
  • My front door is 90cm wide and there's lots of space in the hall
  • I am 5ft 8" with very short arms so have had to rule out lots of buggies as I kick the lower seat. I currently have a Cameleon which I love as I can stand so far away from it and a Maclaren Techno XT which I don't like as I keep kicking the wheels despite having the handles on their full extension

I've read a year's worth of double buggy posts on this forum and spent hours on Best Buggy and I think I've narrowed my choice down to two. My heart says Donkey but my head says Peach Blossom 2.

My concern with the Donkey is the width but am I worrying unnecessarily? It's only an extra 14cm after all.

I had a look at the Peach Blossom last weekend but the shop staff were so busy there was no one around to answer my questions.

  • It looks like the seats don't fully recline but was this just me being incompetent?
  • When the carrycot is on the bottom does it stick out a lot? If I manage to kick my Maclaren wheels would I kick the carrycot?
  • Could I remove the carrycot without removing the top seat?
  • If I take the top seat off and leave it at nursery will I have to leave the carrycot on the bottom or can I then move it to the top position?

Thanks Smile

:) OK the Peach Blossom first. On the PB2 the lower seat has 3 recline positions including lie flat. The upper seat in practice does recline also in 3 positions but for safety reasons iCandy ask you to insert two screws to limit the upper seat to 2 positions. In my experience the mid recline is absolutely fine for a napping toddler.

I haven't used the PB2 with the carrycot on more than a few minutes and I was fine with it. You can remove the carrycot without removing the top seat but it takes a bit of manoeuvering.

The lower carrycot on the PB2 (not the PB1) will fit in the middle ie single position. However it is not safety tested and approved for use like this. So on your head be it :)

The Donkey is absolutely beautiful to push and if you can always leave it up and ready to go then that is fab. BUT it does feel wide...and however much you justify it not being wide in your head, you will find people moving to one side on the pavement to let you through. I think knowing there's just 14cms difference may help you make the decision.

I used my Donkey mainly for walking with, or out and about to the park etc. I would tend to take my Peach Blossom 2 if we were going shopping or about town. I think TBH you need to really analyse where you will go the most, and how you really think you will use it. I had both, and liked both for different reasons. But I think the Peach is the one that does everything, whereas I had to choose my occasion with the Donkey (although I guess if thats your only choice then you find a way around it!)
