Pushchair dilemma/obsession!!

Hi everyone,

Me and my other half are really struggling to agree on a pushchair for our first baby due at the end of April. My priority is for something lightweight that has longevity. I don't like the idea of spending a fortune on a bulky travel system that will only last me a few months so have been looking at some of the pushchairs that are suitable from birth.

We're considering the following pushchairs: -
Maclaren Techno XT or XLR (I like the fact you can accessorise with foot muffs and liners!
Baby Jogger City Mini 4 wheeler - seems excellent and good value although not so sure about the flappy bit that hangs down at the back when you have the seat fully reclined. What accessories would you recommend to make it suitable for a newborn?
Bugaboo Bee Plus - very nice but is it worth the extra £200-300 when you take into account the accessories?
My boyfriend really likes the Uppababy Cruse which requires a carrycot and is quite expensive but also the Babystyle Oyster. These are both a bit heavy for my liking.

Please can any of you experienced ladies give me any advice? I've been dwelling on this for weeks now, can't make a decision and am becoming a bit obsessed! Any feedback on any of the above would be much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance for your help,

Bex.

I would have liked one of the 'suitable from birth' Maclarens but was overruled by MIL (who was paying...) You can't go wrong with a Maclaren really and they are so light.

We got this which I like and converts to a pushchair later. The best thing is the wheels come off and fold really easily:

You are right to think about weight though. I was basically stuck in the house post c-section as I was unable to carry the pram up and down our many steps, and now my wrists are hurting thanks to lugging the car seat about!

My friend who doesn't drive likes the Bugaboo Bee.

I would go for the bugaboo they are deffo worth the extra money in the long run, they usually go on forever and the aftercare surface is great. You may end up regretting not buying one after purchasing a cheaper travel system and having to replace with something lighter months down the line!

Or the Maclaren is also good quality but would only use from newborn with a soft carry cot purchased extra Smile

I would say it depends how you feel about parent facing beyond the carrycot stage. From your list personally I would get a City Mini 4 with compact plus carrycot or a bee. It also depends on your terrain but I can see both of those lasting you a good long while.

In line with the City Mini 4 idea you could also consider the cheaper Britax B Agile, which is narrower and offers the full size britax carrycot option. I had this for DC3 and it was great as a pram, bit more suspension than a city mini.
