What pushchair do you use for a newborn, that will fit in a tiny car boot?

I have a pushchair collection, embarrassingly enough but nothing that will fit easily into the boot of our car.
You can shove a Maclaren in there, just, but it is difficult as it's a bit too long.

Just after some ideas as currently I'm stuck with a Frog chassis and the pebble car seat, which is a nightmare.

I'm going to go right ahead and assume your city won't fit due to width? I had a tiny car boot and this became my obsession.. ended up importing an xtreet from spain but it's not newborn suitable. I'm sure there are other things now though, that was 3 years ago. Stuff like a maxi cosi noa doesn't recline enough either. Hmmm, thinking cap is on..

Bugaboo Bee!

worldgonecrazy · 19/02/2013 13:19

Jane Strata seat and Nomad fitted in a Nissan Micra, didn't even have to take the wheels off.

ChutesTooNarrow · 19/02/2013 13:20

I can squish a bugaboo bee in the boot of my picanto, although have to take parcel shelf out. It amuses me to have a pushchair that is probably worth more than the car.

The pebble car seat can attach to the frame with the right clips.

Thankyou Smile

Parties - spot on! yes the city mini is too tall, both ways round - bearing in mind that the boot isn't starting from empty, as it were - maybe if I cleared out some of the other bits it would be easier - but I like having an emergency kit and so on in there.

I'm amazed that a nomad will fit in a Micra - maybe micra boots are quite big? Our car is a fiesta, think we need to trade in!

I'm having trouble getting the pebble off the frog adaptors, it's very very stiff. It'd work well otherwise.

I'll look at second hand bees on ebay as that might be an option. Yes, has to be RF as he's only 6 weeks old and I need to look at him Smile

Thanks again.

Parties, there's no way the versa will go in either - maybe just the seat unit on its own Grin

It would but you'd have to take all the wheels off! A bee is the only rf er that would fit in my yaris boot without deconstructing the pushchair or the parcelshelf, which i didn't like doing. Something that came close was a hauck malibu with carrycot, had to pop one rear wheel only. Shame it had its rubbish points but cheap used on ebay, they're narrow at 54cm. A petitie star zia evolve pramette? Ladybird Reba? I'm staying in a lower price bracket here.. is that right?

Just a thought but if you on to online4baby.com and look at the bottom of the page of each pushchair you can click on a tab to get all the dimension - open and folded. This could help you work out what's going to fit your boot :)

As an example the Red Kite Push Me Uno 2 in 1 Pram / Pushchair has the below dimensions:

Open: (H)75-105cm x (W)48cm x (L)91cm
Folded: (H)40cm x (W)48cm x (L)92cm

www.online4baby.com/red-kite-push-me-uno-2-in-1-pram-pushchair-black

There are obviously loads of others on there but a good place to start.

Ooh cheers guys. Caz I never noticed that tab before, often websites have these tabs with nothing in them iyswim! That's really useful.

parties I'll check out the Zia, I was thinking about those on our trip out today - the kids played and I did my usual buggywatch Grin

I long ago abandoned our parcel shelf, in fact I don't even know where it is Blush

Quinny Zapp Xtra? Petite Zia? NjoyUp Bubble?

Rooneyisalwaysmoaning · 20/02/2013 08:15

Thankyou Tiggy...I haven't heard of the Njoy, will take a look - the frustrating thing is I got a very cheap Mutsy spider a while ago, which folds tiny - and it's not suitable till he's about a year old imo. Is the quinny suitable for a baby?

If you have issues with the hood on the versa then steer well clear of the Bubble! But it is a neat piece of kit when folded. Quite long though no?
