Silver Cross 3D with Buggy Board?

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this. . . we are expecting DC2 and planning to buy a new pram and have DD (age 3) ride on buggy board.

We were expecting to buy a 3d, as that's what we had for DD and there's a massive sale on now. We went to a huge MotherCare and the salesman (who was, on the whole, extremely helpful and knowledgeable) advised against it, that the buggy board does not really work with that model. It would work with the next larger model, though, but it's like a tank and not on sale. I just thought I would ask if anyone's done it -- I feel like it's an interim solution till DD can walk without the buggy board, and I would rather pay £225 (sale!) for a brand I really like than cough up £500 for a Bugaboo Bee. There aren't that many lie-flat options that work with buggy board, now that we've looked into it.

(I actually originally intended to get a double but DD already weighs 15k and is too tall for a lot of them. Behavior-wise I think we would be better off with a double. . . plus we need a tandem, which is limiting.)

Any other suggestions welcome. . .

We had a buggy board with a 3D only used it about 3 times as it was a complete pain to get up and down pavements with heavy child on - instead DC stood on the 'footplate' type thing underneath the handle side on the pushchair.

Because DC was stood closer to the pram than if stood on a buggy board - you don't have to do a funny bum sticky out walk. Hate buggy boards! But have one in my garage you are very welcome to!

Loved the 3D

Try a Mutsy Evo or Babystyle Oyster (maybe even the Max) with a buggy board. Or look at the Mountain Buggy +One or Babystyle Oyster Max as a double tandem option for an older one plus baby.

Hmm. . . lots to think about.

Loler, didn't your older child have to bend to get feet on the "footplate" ? It didn't engage the brakes? As much as we loved our old 3d I'm thinking it might be better to buy something where that isn't necessary.

Thanks, Tiggywunkle, will have a look at those. . .

no bending needed - he put his over the top of the handles and it kept him in place!

Buggy boards really are back breakingly awful - I also had it for DD when DS1 was born - she refused to even stand on it! May be your DD will be better as she's quite a bit older than my two were. With DD she was nearly 2 when ds1 was born - I used a sling until he was too heavy by then she could pretty much walk everywhere. We live in a village so the pavements are the best - not good for buggy boards or tandems.
