Pushchairs

Does it exist? Parent-facing three-wheeler, suitable from birth.

Please help; I urgently need to buy a three-wheeler cross-country type pushchair for 3 months old DD, that has a reversible seat, parent-facing. Can anyone recommend one, I've been looking and looking and can't see the woods for the trees... (probably due to new baby sleep deprivation).

I need it urgently as I'll be back in the UK for a two week holiday and need to buy a pushchair while I'm there. Added bonuses would be that it is light-ish and small fold, comfy, can take a buggy-board, and suitable for pushing around fields and woods, in snow and on mountain tracks, as well as playgrounds, shopping centres and town. I can spend up to about £500 as have been given money by lovely relatives. Any advice gratefully received!

(My last pram/pushchair was the Silver Cross Sleepover on Linear Chassis ... a classic design and v. comfy for babies to sleep in, but it almost broke my back lifting its 18kg in and out of the car boot, and the wheels came off on bumpy country walks).

I have a My3, does everything you've asked and does trekking through mud, up hill and beaches easily. It's similar to a Buzz IIRC but better!

Ha tiggy is a legend

I have an icandy apple and still use it mainly parent facing as dd prefers it. We have done some epic offroad with it but it can over balance occasionally.

I dream of a mountain buggy. ..

I had a Jane for 7 years (3 dc) and it was the best buggy i ever owned. brilliant for walks (particularly with steep hills and the brake!). It had an enormous seat that acomodated elder dd's at 5+. I was slightly teary to see it go Grin

I can't vouch for the buggy your looking at but the brand was well worth the money (good customer service too I had a bit break of a second hand powertwin I also had and they sent out the replacement parts without quibbling).

Oiiiitt you are talking behind my back. But yes I trump itsmylastone many times over. I think I have 20 pushchairs sat here staring at me right now without trying!!

The Buzz - dont touch it with a bargepole. Anyone who says they love the Buzz is only allowed to say it after they have had at least 10 other pushchairs. Believe me its heavy, unweidly, large and bulky folded, the front wheel sticks out too far in shops etc, the basket hangs on the floor if you put more than a coat in it and mine had an annoying habit of opening itself in the boot of my car - not good when you consider there's gas propelling it open!!

The Mura - good idea - I loved my Mura - its got the most comfy seat ever. Its horribly bulky folded and to store but for pushing its great. Not one for a small car boot or flying with.

TFK are one of the most well constructed brands ever. The seats are so thickly padded and there's sooo much storage! The seat is huge, but its narrow. You will find it cheaper to buy from Germany than here though - Amazon.de is a good starting point.
Far nicer than a Mountain Buggy. I have had two TFKs and would have another. I have had 4 Mountain Buggies and wont be buying another. All but one have been lemons.

The Teutonia Spirit is a three wheeler that has forward and backwards facing seat, and takes a buggy board. Not sure how it compares weightwise or price. We have the Cosmo (4wheels) and it's not really all terrain, but we're really happy with it as a city pram.

The Buzz i suspect is one of Mothercares best sellers. It looks lovely, shiny and smart in the shop. But the reality is Mothercare have a very limited number of pushchairs and they are the shop on the high street that I bet every pregnant woman walks into during pregnancy - possibly first! Even I got suckered into having a Buzz. Yes it's nice to walk with and I guess if it's the only pushchair you buy, your car / house / shops are all wide / large then it's fine. But there's so many flaws to it and you realise there IS just SO much better out there!! I am on a bit of a personal mission to persuade parents to be out of Mothercare and M&P and into independent nursery shops where there's usually a better choice (or a choice to widen what Mothercare / M&P can offer!) I groan every time I hear a newly pregnant mum say they went into Mothercare and liked the Buzz!!!

Phil and teds just brought out a face to face seat that fits most of their pushchairs.

I have a Jane Trider. It's a three wheeler all-terrain pram, (big gel-filled front wheel), parent-facing too. I have been very pleased with it and think it looks pretty cool too!

The rear facing P&T seat looks great, but the Mothercare website says it is only suitable up to 9kg.

Think 9kg is about a year old? Not too bad, given that you could probably squish them in there for a bit longer

Honestly... take a look at the Maxi Cosi Mura 3 - it's fantastic!

9kgs is more like a 9-10 month old. You may as well use a car seat / adaptor as the recline angle is the same as the Face to Face seat ie there's no lie flat.

Britax B-Smart, but as others have said its not really a 'true' off roader, its more of a city 3 wheeler.

But there is also the Phil & Teds Navigator jogger with a reversible seat unit, its in the new John Lewis Baby book
