How have others padded out a BJCM for a newborn?

We're soon to have ds2 and we have a BJCM, its only just occured to me that it may not be that comfy for a small newborn. I'm not all that keen on stripping it back and using a carrycot as ds1 may need it occasionally.

So what have others done?

You can use the baby jogger compact carrycot on it as it is, no need to strip fabrics. Alternatively I'm sure I've read on here that the graco soft carrycot will fit! Try using the search function and you might be able to find the old thread.

We added a generic cosytoes, with the top unziped, something like this, and also added some strap paddings something like these to pad it out, and prevent the straps catching. DS2 never seemed to mind in the double version.

Sheepskin for the summer, cosy toe and add sheepskin in/ or under in the winter

Graco and petite star cocoon soft cot things fit with varying levels of security, now there is the compact cot there's no need as it fits on over the fabric or without - your choice.
If you need the buggy to be elder child ready all the time then a footmuff type cocoon and one that removes easily might be best.. i'm thinking bee cocoon here?

what about something like these? www.amazon.co.uk/sheepskin-buggy-liner/s?ie=UTF8&keywords=sheepskin%20buggy%20liner&page=1&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Asheepskin%20buggy%20liner thats what i am thinking of using when this one comes along

I used a Bugaboo cocoon as it could be easily lifted out - it has slits rather than strap holes that you push the whole harness through or lift straight up to remove. But ihateparties and I were only looking at various cocoons and baby nests at the weekend and saying that there really are a huge variety on the market that any would more than likely do. I would go and have a look round a really good independent retailer and see what they have on their shelves that you fancy!

My friend used the Phil & Teds cocoon in hers and it worked well. I am going to try the same with this baby for when I don't need to be using a double
