Abc triple buggy any experiences?

Hi, I need to get a triple buggy for my childminding- I got a t3 jogger off eBay but lack of storage space means it's out in the garage as it's quite bulky. Anyone got the abc triple with using the single buggy. Although costly I think would be most useful. Also seen on abc website a single with toddler seat on top and infront. Allowing buggy to be used as single, double & triple- ideal for my work but wanted any feedback before buying. Thank you

A friend had one with her triplets - it was quite a short wheelbase, so fairly compact but no idea how small it was when folded.

Not sure if she had the front seat thingy, but she had two on the roof facing her, and one in the actual seat I think. They took turns.

It seemed to be nice quality. Bit like Mountain buggy but not so long and obvs with four wheels so nice and stable.

Only ever heard good things about it on here.

Fab, thanks. sounds very similar to one I've seen. I've just started using this chat so not seen many chats about it.
Hoping I can get enough people with previous experience to let me decide with more certainty about ordering one over from nz.

Click on advanced search and put in adventure buggy, or abc buggy - see what comes up.

It might even be mentioned in the pushchair review section.

Honestly honestly try and see one first. I had a friend who had twins on the way and an older baby and she was convinced it was THE pushchair for her, so I persuaded her to come and see my ABC - single with seat on top - and my Valco with toddler seat - like the T3 and it was an instant NO WAY reaction.

The Adventure Buggy is like nothing else I have tried. Its handbuilt, chunky, well made but missing the refinements of a 'modern' pushchair. It is a pushchair to put up and leave up in your house. At the point at which we folded it, it was totally in our way and ended up getting sold. Whilst it was up and in our hall way it was fab. But it doesn't free stand when folded, is hugely long folded. It took a while to undo all the pieces to get the toddler seat on and off. I never really worked the raincovers and bits of fabric out. It was awesome to use and push but it was sooooo long folded that it didn't actually fit in the car. Even the fold was a NIGHTMARE to do - its not like a modern pushchair to fold!! Its a beast...there's no way around that.

I honestly honestly honestly would not want to be swapping parts each time as I think you would like to. You would need to buy it, leave it up and dont touch it until you are finished!!! The Valco in comparision was tiny folded.

There's loads more...like the lower seat is quite short with a low hood. The upper child can actually end up with their feet on the head of the lower child. The footmuff for the lower seat is teeny and finding footmuffs was a challenge. The storage is fab on it - great for shopping.

I absolutely LOVED the interaction with the top child. It was soooo much fun. But definitely not easy!!
There are photos here, here and here

If you have any more questions then ask, but I wouldn't import one - try and buy one off Ebay here and save yourself the import charges. But DO try and see one first. I loved mine, but only because I never folded it!!

goldie81 · 01/01/2013 20:42

Wow- thanks for that! I am def one for getting carried away with how fab thing are. Yes I do really need to find one to look at in real life so that I can def decide.
Is it really that much of pain to take seats etc off?! They make it sound so easy on the website!
I have tried getting one on eBay- don't come up very often and seemed to still go for almost same price as a new one unless I'm mistaken. Although I didn't take into account the import charges- not sure how much they would be!

Yes it is a PITA to do anything other than push the Adventure Buggy. There's a You Tube video where a man takes it all to pieces and packs it neatly into the boot of his car....there's NOOOO WAAAAY we could have done that! I admit ours was a slightly older version and the new one is meant to be a tad easier, but when you look closely, the design isn't much different and TBH by the time you have loaded the children into the car, the last thing you will want to do is dismantle it all. I do know of one childminder who does have a triple adventure buggy for the reasons you want it, but I dont know what she uses it for. I would certainly consider it for walking from the house with, but the car....no thank you!!! I will stress once again that I loved mine, but it was stored ready to go and if I had had to take it apart each time to use, it would have been back on Ebay within hours. But we tolerated the space it took up because it was so lovely to use / interact with our eldest toddler.

goldie81 · 01/01/2013 21:26

Ok great thank you- I would not be using the car when using the buggy for 3 as apart from a bus I'm not sure what car would fit any triple buggy in with 3 babies & my own 3!!
It is the fact that I did want to collapse the buggy at the end of the day and store in the porch. But if it's going to be a pain to do this then I'm going to have to rethink. I will try and find one to go look at.
Thank you for your help :)

i was recently looking at triples as this one came up:
conegreen.com/triple-trio-tandem-baby-jogger-stroller-with-rain-canopy-free-matching-carry-bag/

have no experience but it looks a good size and would probably fit on certain buses/ trains/ through doors etc

goldie81 · 01/01/2013 22:05

Great thanks for that. It does look good!

I spent months and months trying to get my perfect ABC triple - which I now have Grin! I'm a cm too and this is, by far, the best set up for me when I have the right combination of children (I don't at the moment and it is only used occasionally).

I have a single with reclining seat and static seat. I also have two adaptors for the front - either to fix the forward facing static seat or the rear-facing reclining seat. Whichever is not on the front goes on the top.

Originally, I thought I'd want two reclining toddler seats but I now prefer the static seat for an older child.

Whilst it's very long when folded, it doesn't take up any more floor space than the P&T does (even when both extra seats are stored with it). Mine is folded at the end of each day that it is used and takes a couple of minutes to take off the extra seat, fold it, then add the seats back on so that it is as compact and tidy as possible.

It has been transported in the back of my old Renault scenic but i had to take of the handle bar for it to fit.

The single seats are extremely easy to add/remove if you have the adaptor on the handle bar. I did have a double top seat for a while but found it quite heavy to add/remove easily...I was hoping to be able to add it to the front adaptor but it didn't fit, annoyingly.

I have gone through a ridiculous number of singles/doubles/buggyboard combinations trying to find the ultimate (from a cm perspective) and I do believe this is as close as it gets. The only downside for me is that it won't fit in the boot of my Zafira (ha, ha, it's taken me a few doubles to realise the only double that will fit is a P&T with the wheels offHmmGrin) so I do have one buggy more than I'd ideally like.

Every now and again I consider selling the ABC because it's not being used much at the moment but I know if I did I'd regret it as soon as another small childminded child came along.

Sorry this is so long but could quite happily waffle on about ABCs all day long Grin!!

goldie81 · 05/01/2013 08:12

Oh fab- thank you for that. That is the buggy I have been chatting to phil about. Think it would be most suitable as now I could get rid of all my buggies. I think this buggy seems best as it means if I just use as you said which seats are needed.
How much space is there for the child in the buggy with toddler seat on the front?
By the off chance do you live anywhere near Watford so I could come look at it?!
Thank you :)

Goldie81, a friend of mine might be selling hers, I will find out :)

goldie81 · 05/01/2013 09:14

Wow- yes please. Do you know which one it is?

HiccupHaddockHorrendous · 05/01/2013 09:35

There is not a massive amount of space when the toddler seat is attached to the front but I usually recline it a bit and pull the hood back so it's not so enclosed.

If I put the reclining seat on the front (rear facing) then there would be more space but it's a bit of a faff to swap the adaptors over and I'm not sure I have the right combination of children to do it that way at the moment - the child in the rear-facer will have their legs dangling over the one in the main seat so they either need to be small or old enough to know not to kick their fellow passenger Grin.

I'm in South Wales and you'd be more than welcome to come and try mine out if you wanted.

peggyblackett · 05/01/2013 11:25

No idea goodie, except that it is a double with two upright seats on top. Have sent her a message to ask.

peggyblackett · 05/01/2013 11:26

goldie

peggyblackett · 05/01/2013 18:24

She is selling it goldie. She is looking for £500 for it. It is in really good condition; I'm fairly sure that she has bought replacement seats for it, so there's actually new seats and spares IYSWIM. PM me if interested and I can put you in touch.

goldie81 · 05/01/2013 20:52

Thanks so much peggyblackett- sorry new to site & doing this on my phone- not sure how to pm you. I've measured porch where want to store buggy and it will only fit single in! Thanks so much anyway. She would get a really good price for it on eBay!

Where about in south wales are you? Debating when I'm up 2visit my friend just other side of Cardiff. Could always take a de tour. But not sure when up there next andif would leave meenough time to then order onein time for new baby start.
At the moment with you saying it takes few mins to sort out at en of day etc then I think that is quite reasonable- beings take me a while to sort out after the day anyway.

HiccupHaddockHorrendous · 06/01/2013 14:06

I've just emailed you two pics of the folded buggy. I shall go and swap the adaptors over now and take another picture of it unfolded!
