I posted this on chat as a curiosity but now I'm actually considering it:

Does anyone know have it? Is it available in Europe?

It has a on/off button and I bet it doesn't snap your fingers in two (unlike the bastard Cameleon)

It has an LCD screen, lights and charges your Iphone.

I have had it here and have had a play and am utterly smitten by it. Its awesome and I am saving my pennies for one. It seems more than a gimmick ie its very well thought out, practical, with loads of storage and a large seat. I believe it will be in the UK early next year. It is honestly just mesmerising and so easy to use. I honestly would love one based on what I have seen and played with.

But it is around £500 for something that is essentially just a Zapp Xtra with a gimmick. Confused

looks really fun though and I do want one

I think it's a good idea in principle but I can just envisage the fold failing in a car park in the rain. What happens then? Is there a manual fold option?
Also, if you think the cameleon has a vicious fold, never try a quinny buzz/moodd. I had a buzz for 2 weeks and the damn thing got me 3 times, the last time it unfolded with my finger caught and because of the hydraulics I couldn't close it to get my finger out and i was stuck, in agony, until some kind stranger helped me to push the frame closed and get my finger out. It was a very pretty shade of black/blue, and the nail fell off, taking a full 6 months to grow back!

Its definitely much more than a Zapp Xtra. Even without the fold, its a good quality, well made, sturdy pushchair with really good manoeuverability and loads of features and a luxurious seat for the child.

There is a manual fold option - funnily enough we had to use it when the battery ran out, and it was easy enough to fold manually. The only difference was that once folded there was no lock on it.

That sounds awful about the Buzz fold :((( Poor you!
I got a blood blister from trapping my thumb in a P&T's Verve. Very OWW!

I did see previews of this stroller in early 2011 but wasn't that impressed by it. The thing that put me off was the weight. It is double the weight of a Bee!

I think it comes down to lifestyle ultimately. I couldn't pick that up one handed so it was a no for me.

I was also thinking about the safety of having a baby in a stroller that has the ability to fold on itself automatically. I think it apparently has a sensor that stops the folding mechanism from working if there is weight detected in the seat, but the idea that it could malfunction still put me off.

It says it has running lights so I'm assuming you can jog with this stroller. That could change my mind as I need a stroller for jogging and this looks a lot more compact than other jogging strollers.

Tiggywunkle · 25/11/2012 21:25

No, they are running lights to jog with lol! They light the pavement ahead if you as they are down by the front wheels. Please don't try running with it!!!
It's very clever how it senses if you have something in the seat. It refuses to fold!
You can tow the Origami when folded. I am used to lifting heavy double pushchairs so a heavy single is no problem Especially for something do cool!

Tiggywunkle · 25/11/2012 21:26

Sorry that should say NOT lights to jog with!!!!

PoppyAmex · 26/11/2012 09:40

Thanks for the replies.

I really love how practical it seems and I think the price isn't too bad - in fact it's cheaper than the bugaboo, right?

So those who have seen it the flesh, is it as clunky and ugly as it looks in the video?

I think its more expensive than a Bugaboo Cameleon.....although I guess it depends what extras you buy with both - there's probably not that much in it!
I know what you mean about it looking clunky and ugly in the video and I think to be honest IRL its completely different when you are there and using it. I didn't appreciate how lovely the seat fabrics were for example. And when you are behind the controls watching the Origami fold it really is utterly mesmerising. I have to say I was always fascinated by what the Origami does, but not how it looks, but having used one, I am smitten and would happily sink my savings into getting one :o

LDNmummy · 26/11/2012 23:54

Ha! Well there goes me back to looking for a London friendly jogging stroller.

Tiggy I think I need to suck up to you because you seem to get to play with all these pushchairs in real life and I'm becoming a real pushchair nut.

Just this morning I wanted a Versa and now your selling me on the Origami!! My bank balance won't be able to handle this... sadly Sad

Tiggywunkle · 27/11/2012 13:18

LOL - I wont sell you anything unless its right for your needs!! :)
In fact I wont sell you anything at all - just throw in a few ideas!!

The Origami is a marmite pushchair - you will either love it or hate it / not get it! It is one for gadget freaks / anyone who likes to stand out from the crowd because believe me you WILL turn heads!! But its not that unusual that you couldn't use it in every day life because until you hit the fold button it just looks like a luxury pushchair.

Consider what is most important to you whether its fold size, parent facing, cost, basket space etc and work back from there.
