Does anyone know where i could go to try out different brands / types of double buggies please? We're in S London but happy to drive for an hour or so to find somewhere with a decent range. So far I've looked in John Lewis but they only seem to have limited options so was wondering if there was an independent anywhere that would have a better range. I've mail ordered from Whinstanleys pram world before and they seem to have lots of options, but its a long way to drive to look at pushchairs!!

It will be more than an hour drive but kiddicare has an impressive range (just not bugaboo) and you can really play and have a look, they even have a 'test track' with grass, cobbles, steps etc. I use them for all my big purchases as they price match and have great after sales care.

Thank you

A3 babybarn in Surrey?

Tiggywunkle · 18/09/2012 21:52

Peppermint?

Ihateparties · 18/09/2012 22:01

There used to be a peppermint in Kingston, presume there still is. Plus Baby Nest in Croydon must have some stuff.

NervousAt20 · 18/09/2012 22:02

Not sure exactly how far it is but kiddicare seem to have every pram imaginable

Tiggywunkle · 18/09/2012 22:20

Kiddicare do have a lot of brands but they also miss out on some of the major brands too,

Peppermint is one I'd been planning to look at , didn't know about baby barn so will check that out. Thanks. Think kiddicare is a bit far

The Baby Barn used to be good for having some slightly unexpected things but I'm talking 5yrs ago so don't know now. Don't remember seeing many doubles back then. The drive through the golf course is always fun though...

Peppermint in Kingston is TINY. I think they have the Mountian Buggy range, possibly a Bugaboo donkey. If you aren't local I wouldn't make a special trip (unless you go to Babybarn, draw a blank, and head there on your way back).

How far are you from twickenham? Happicraft there have quite a good range for the shop's small size.

Ktay · 19/09/2012 19:46

Oops sorry perhaps not doubles tho Blush but you could give them a call to decide whether it's worth a trip?

Ihateparties · 19/09/2012 20:15

Oh Happicraft, good shout, v small shop but they certainly used to have a lot of stuff. (This is making me kinda miss Twickenham and Kingston etc.) I would try Croydon too, it's not far by car.

Thinking about it it might be easier to build a shortlist of the things you want to see then use google to find stockists of those particular things, then visit the places that have the most of what you want.

northerngoldilocks · 19/09/2012 22:47

Thanks everyone. I had an idea that it might be easy to go somewhere with as large a range as possible closer to my due date and try my (very tall) toddler in different types of double buggy. Seems it might not be that easy so will have to just check out a few places.

I think you need to check out a few places to be honest, as different shops have different contracts with manufacturers. Plus I would start with the least interesting because then if you look a numpty, you can walk away and feel confident going to the next shop!! Believe me even now I slink around shops barely daring to try them out....but you NEED to get hands on and get folding and unfolding them all and trying them in your car etc
