Pushchair for holiday. Anything better than a BJCM?

I'm currently 30 weeks pregnant and we're thinking of booking a holiday abroad for next year before I go back to work.
We've got a Babystyle Oyster for the new baby but we wouldn't want to take this abroad.

I'm thinking a BJCM would be the best option (but that could just be because i'm looking for an excuse to buy one).

Is there any others I should look at? It will need to be suitable for a 5-6 month old, lightweight, easy to fold and relatively compact. Preferably with a descent hood although we may buy a UV shade.

We've taken our BJCM to south Italy two years running, and it's fabulous. With the sheer size of the hood you wouldn't need a shade, maybe just a muslin pegged to cover legs. The netting over the back (above the head) provides a lovely through breeze when in lie flat mode. It was fantastic dealing with steps and the lack of pavements too!

(can you tell I love mine?)

I would say just get the BJCM because you will always use it. But other suggestions are the Petite Zia Evolve or Zia Plus? Njoy Bubble? Britax B-Agile? Maxi Cosi Noa?

Lady Glad to hear you love yours!

I'll have a look at the other suggestions Tiggywunkle.

Another reason I want the BJCM is that when I go back to work my mum will be looking after DC a day a week. I think the folding on the BJCM will be a lot easier for her than the Oyster for getting on/off the bus if they go out for the day

Just noticed the B-agile has a similar folding mechanism. Is it as wide as other Britax prams? we had a look at the B Smart and B Dual (?) and thought they were quite (a bit too) wide and chunky

The b agile is 58cm, 4 cm narrower than the city mini :-D

We've found that Quinny Zapp's are the best for a holiday buggy - they fold up sooo ridiculously small, its brilliant!
It also means that it doesn't take up much room in your hotel room.

If you want it to recline then look at the Zapp Xtra - I've not had one, but it looks identical to the Original Zapp, but with recline.

I don't like the B-Agile for small babies / young toddlers. They slump terribly in the seat. The B-Agile IMHO is fab for older toddlers but get the BJCM for a young one.

Unless you particularly want parent facing or air tyres, then the BJCM is the best pushchair for everything.

Thanks everyone.

I'll show DH this thread and hopefully it will convince him to treat me to a purple BJCM. He played with one in John Lewis and was impressed. Really the holiday is an excuse to buy one Grin

I'll have the Oyster for parent facing when the baby is small so that's ok, I was also going to buy some air tyres for that for any rougher walks.

Tiggywunkle or any other pram experts, do you think i'll get a BJCM any cheaper than £170??

I think the B Agile seat slumping is totally fixable with a strap around the back to make it an inch or two more upright. I had no problem with my 6 month old when she moved into the seat. Literally a long piece of velcro or some webbing with velcro on the end. V easy. I preferred the 4 wheels, narrower wheelbase and um... price Grin

Not sure if this is any help but we're hiring a buggy to be delivered to the hotel when we go away, might that be an option? £170 is a lot if the buggy is specifically for holidays!
