I still can't decide!

Went to look at doubles again last night, mainly to try the Duet which I thought would be perfect and I just didn't like it. The seats were quite slim and it was heavy to push. Tried the iCandy Pear which was heavy with tiny seats, the BDual which was nice and is probably what I'll get if I can't find anything else, the Twone which wasn't great, the Promenade which was really expensive and the Navigator which I liked.

DS is 18 months and will be 20 months when DD is born. He only weighs 24lbs though and is quite short.

I love the look and weight of the Nipper 360, does anyone know how wide the new one is and how suitable they are for newborns?

Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated too.

The new nipper is 72cm wide. Newborn suitability - technically it is but haven't actually seen it and there isn't a carrycot like there is for the single one so dunno.

Did you see the twone in newborn toddler set up? It really works for me with two over 6m but have not seen it with the matrix on. It's soooo much smaller than the b dual, which I had and did like but the width was a problem with the wheelguards on it is as wide as the new nipper. Admittedly the wheelguards are little more flexy than the solid bits of nipper!

I found the promenade felt very long because of how the handle adjusts and the seats seemed short but the features do seem attractive. I would guess that the pear seats are bigger or the same as the promenade.

There are compromises on everything. Have you looked online (or in person if you can find somewhere that has them) at the Brevi Ovo Twin. Haven't seen one but looks interesting.... Other than that I'm struggling for more suggestions. Have you discounted a Peach Blossom 2 already, that isn't mentioned?

WaftyCrank · 11/09/2012 14:45

They had no Peach Blossoms in stock and said there's no chance of getting one as I've only 9 weeks left.

No I just saw the twone in toddler/toddler mode but I didn't like the lack of basket or the tiny hoods. I don't drive and use it for shopping a lot.

I'm very tempted by the Nipper but with DD being a November baby I want to make sure she's going to be protected by from the cold and wind.

I've looked at the Brevi but no idea of anywhere I could try one unfortunately.

Mini city jogger has a double side by side and u can use the cocoon carrycot things for new borns. By little ds was very snug in there he only 20lbs 18month old

WaftyCrank · 11/09/2012 17:30

What's the width like? I need to get through the door at nursery and on buses.

75.5 I think?? I had one with the first two dcs and loved it in all but the width. They are good and the GT version would be even better.

Ah yes, the Stupid Twone lower seat hood and lack of basket. I added a panel in the teeny hood, just zips in. Then net bags on the side and elodie details stroller shopper bag on the handle when required. I walk everywhere too and it is irritating not being able to get a decent amount of stuff on board. It's sort of crap and I love it at the same time. Weird.

I would have kept the b dual and looked no further, no question, were it not for the width. It's even more annoying because it's not really necessary, there is a gap between the frame and wheels Angry

If you can't wait for a peach then I guess you can't wait for an Oyster Max either. I'm done now, can't think of anything else!

I think if I was starting again now I would probably get a nipper really, there is something fundamentally easier about a side by side, no worries about who in which seat etc. A sleeping bag style footmuff would certainly keep a newborn cosy enough imo.

What about the Baby Jogger City Mini 2011 Double or the Baby Jogger City Select?

The Out ?N About Nipper 360 Double 2011 is 10kg.

However if you really like a certain pushchair, I wouldn't comprise and buy a different one. If you like the Peach Blossom then I'd try and track it down.

The new Narrow Nipper is just 72cms wide. I have loved it this summer. Its so easy to push. Would I buy it for a newborn - no - probably not. I would get a Baby Jogger City Mini GT (or City Mini or Elite). The reasons why....I dont like the mesh behind the child's head on the recline of the Nipper. I like my babies snuggly when the bitter winter winds are howling and I see no reason why there should be mesh behind their heads and shoulders. There's enough air flow out of the front without air flow round the back. The hood is very open as well whereas most pushchair hoods come further down. Later on I am not that keen on the seating position for a younger baby - plus the harnesses are absolutely HUGE! Its hanging off even my nearly 4 year old!
Push wise the Nippers is fabulous though and its worked well for me with two older toddlers.

I personally would get a Baby Jogger and put a carrycot on, or use something like a Bugaboo Cocoon inside. I think the huge hood would make things much more cosy to be honest, and the hoods are great for summer too - plus there is ventilation in summer as well unlike say a Mountain Buggy where its enclosed at the rear. The Baby Joggers are really fab. I struggle to find fault with them....except just watch out for the 2012 versions with sagging seats....

Well after researching all that you suggested, spending far too many hours on your fab website Tiggywunkle and practically tearing my hair out, we went to Smyths to look at the Dimples Duo and it was great.

Really good seat configurations, not too wide, massive hoods and nice extras. The lady mentioned it was a 20% off day on Friday but as DH is working and I don't drive we said we couldn't get there so she let us have it today! So got it for £199 which I can't grumble about at all.

Thanks for all your help.

That's great that you got sorted. Glad the website was useful. That's what it's there for :)

Ihateparties · 17/09/2012 20:20

I had a smyths dimples duo.. infact it would have been my photos on the website and I bloody loved it. I miss the hoods to this day. It really does work.

Hope you like using it!

WaftyCrank · 18/09/2012 23:06

Well thank you to you both, the pictures swung it for DH and I've never seen such a good, informative website.

Plus, Tiggy, your DS is adorable! What a happy chappy he looks :)

Now just got to wait for DD2 to arrive to play properly rather than pushing it round the living room.

OP posts:
Tiggywunkle · 18/09/2012 23:08

Thanks re DS. I am biased but he's scrummy.
Don't wait for DD2 to arrive! Get using it in single mode ;)

WaftyCrank · 18/09/2012 23:17

I put DS2 who's 18mo and DD1 who's 3.6 in it the other and it was fairly heavy on the carpet but still pushable. I was surprised at the room DD1 had actually, more than the toddler seat on the P&T.

Quick question for you actually, on the lie flat seat for DD2, we've put in the footmuff and then the seat liner on top. Do you think that will be enough or should I buy a head hugger for her?

OP posts:
Tiggywunkle · 18/09/2012 23:24

I probably wouldn't use both the seat liner and the footmuff....or does the seat liner have the built in head hugger part? If it does, then I wouldn't get a head hugger as well. If not, I would take the liner out and buy a head hugger.

WaftyCrank · 18/09/2012 23:35

It's not quite a head hugger, just extra padding round the head. I think I'll take the liner out and then get a head hugger. Thanks again.

OP posts:
Tiggywunkle · 19/09/2012 01:03

I thought it was, I would remove it and get a head hugger as you say.

Ihateparties · 19/09/2012 18:25

The upper seat is really quite flat, a headhugger would be nice, or one of those body support type jobs but the liner and footmuffs seemed pretty cushy so you could probably also get away without also.
There's a surprising amount of room in the lower seat isn't there.
It's not the easiest thing I've ever pushed but not at all bad, infact I think it's probably better on a firmer surface than carpet with heavier kids in. Mine were hmmm 4m and 2y4m ish I think when I had it and it was pretty good to handle really, for holding the older one's hand across roads etc. What are you used to pushing lately though?! If you came from a really light stroller or a bee or something then it will seem heavy at first!
