Mutsy Evo

This is my first DC and therefore first pram purchase so im prepared to be advised!

I've been reading a lot about the Mutsy Evo and I'm really interested in it, mainly because it's suitable from birth without a carry cot and seems to be so reasonably priced. I'd like to avoid buying a cot if possible and wondered if anyone had used it with a newborn as a pramette? I'm due at the end of Dec so wondering whether this is feasible in the winter or would I need some sort of cocoo or bite the bullet and get a cot? I am generally happy to be convinced I need a carry cot with any pushchair, but right now I can't see why - ill get a moses basket so cant see that ill need extra sleeping vessel and it just seems to be an additional item for the sake of it.

The other pram I'm considering is the bugaboo bee - again, like the idea of the newborn use with cocoon. But very expensive in comparison, I'm just not convinced its that much better.

Not sure I'll get to see the Mutsy in real life, is it completely crazy buying a pram without having a play with it?

Finally any other suggestions welcome. Neat fold and two way facing are my other main criteria. Price not necessarily an issue though I'll need convincing to spend more than £500...

Thanks!

I think you should try and see the Evo in real life.....just simply because you will get a feel of the handle heights, whether you like it or not. I think its a cracking good pushchair for the money. Its got everything you could want and more.

I am not entirely following your carrycot train of thought. There is no need to buy a carrycot for a newborn with the Evo, but to be honest I would. The hood will be a long way off your baby, and I bet you end up buying some type of baby nest or cocoon for them, especially given the time of year you are due. I think it would be money well spent to be honest - especially as the Evo isn't that expensive anyway. The other option would be to buy a cocoon like a Bugaboo Cocoon or other baby insert, but to be honest, you could end up paying more than the carrycot!!

Don't forget that if you can't find a stockist that under distance selling rules you can return the item - I think within 5 or 7 days - check! You would almost certainly have to pay the return postage but it may save you the petrol driving round to find a shop.

The other pushchair that lands on UK shores this week...and is definitely worth a look, is the Baby Jogger Versa. It does what you have requested and more. You would need a carrycot though which does bump the cost up - but remember you can get a fair chunk of money back at the end with a good brand pushchair and I would suggest you would get more back from a Baby Jogger than you would a Mutsy.

It's 7 days for returning products that have been distance sold. However I'm not sure what the rules are if you have assembled the product, it may be that you can't then return it. Tiggy can most buggies be dismantled fairly easily and without causing any damage (i.e. so the seller wouldn't know!), do you know? (and PS, when does your June arrive? Smile)

Thanks Tiggy, exactly the sort of advice I was looking for. A quick question if I may - if I decide to go for a Bugaboo, should I buy the cot or will the cocoon suffice, from what you've said I'm think probably I need a cot again?

I can only find the Oxford pram centre as stocking the Mutsy which is miles away from me. I didn't know about the distance selling rules, so that has been a great help, thanks.

I have been tracking the versa but again, can't find anywhere near me stocking it to have a look at, and for that sort of money I thought I may as well go for a Bugaboo. But I'll make a few more enquiries.

Also looked at the Jane Muum, but it was much larger than I expected.

As they say on the Apprentice, the search continues...

Minipie - most pushchairs can be put up, tried at home on the carpet with labels on and then put carefully back if you dont like it. Its not something I personally would do, but its an option if you can't get near a shop.

The June arrives next week.....sqqqqqquuuuuuueeeeeeeeeee!!!!! I am sooooo excited!!! The Versa comes tomorrow!!! Hurrrrrrrrayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!! An exciting week!

CityofGold there is no carrycot for a Bugaboo Bee. I have to say, I personally wouldn't buy the Bee for a newborn, but if it ticks all your boxes then thats great!! The Versa arrived in stores today and tomorrow. So have a phone around!

I dont think there is a perfect pushchair....my top few are probably the iCandy Peach, Cherry or Strawberry, Bugaboo Cameleon, Baby Jogger Versa and hopefully the Easywalker June and the Uppababy Vista is great too.

I've got one and i really like it. it's a nice carrycot and DS2 has had naps in it in the house. i bought the matching cosytoes and have used it without the zip on cover to make it nice and soft.

i watched the videos and read lots of reviews and bought it without seeing it.

feel free to ask questions or pm me if you want.

thanks for the recommendation tiggy!
