Bugaboo Bee or Petite Star Njoy up Bubble for going on the tube?
Hrc152 · 06/09/2012 08:56
We are possibly going down to one car which will mean me getting the tube/bus more. So I need to get something v.light and narrow. I like the look of the bubble although it doesn't appear to be out yet, has anyone seen it or played with it? My baby is 10 months and I'd like to have him rear facing so I can keep a close eye on him, but I realise he is getting a bit big to be parent facing comfortably. Would the bugaboo bee be better for rear facing? It looks like it has more storage space in it and I've heard good things. Although I guess if I had to fold it quickly I guess the bubble would be better. I should probably also mention I can't really spend more than £200. Any thoughts?!

The Bee would be second had given your budget which is not great because Bees haven't a great history but parts seem easy enough to come by. The Bubble could be new with your budget. I have had a Bubble for several weeks and I think it's very innovative. I think for easy folding it's better than the Bee which has several steps - requiring two hands at the end. The Bubble could be done one handed as it's a traditional umbrella fold pushchair. It isn't as nippy as the Bee but is good. The rear facing is good. The basket is small. The Bee would be easier to carry folded. The Bubble is quite long but could be pulled along behind. My 3 and a half year old could parent face easily in both pushchairs. Looks wise the Bee wins. The Bubble should be here soon and could well suit your needs. I would find a stockist and try it out.

Thanks a lot that's really helpful! Did you find the bubble easy enough to get up and down kerbs in parent facing mode? As the weight is over the front wheels?
Tiggywunkle · 06/09/2012 22:32
I didn't find it a problem at all to be honest. The weight isn't really over the front heels because the child it's in the centre whichever way they sit. The back rest moves back - does that make sense. So the back of one seat becomes the front of the other. I had a few teething issues with my Bubble but I know my comments were fed back and the team were actively resolving them - I was very impressed by the way they listened. I think my only comment - and it say have been addressed - is that when the seat is parent facing, it does look odd to see an empty harness at the front. I did pull my hood right down to cover it - you do a double take if you see it coming towards you!

Thanks so much - do you know when the release date is by any chance?!

There is a message on the Petite Star Facebook page to say the Bubble arrived yesterday and is on its way out to stores as of yesterday. It does say that Babys R Us for example have to send stocks to their warehouse first and then on to stores. But they should be in independent stores I would think by mid week if not before.
