rear facing small folder (impossible?)

I'm about to move to a flat with horrendous stairs, no way I can manage to get a buggy up (four steep flights), so I have to stash it in a small space where I'm not really allowed to leave things

ANy suggestions?
I'll need to take it on the bus and push it up the large hill (large stairs large hill, what a work out...)

thanks in advance!

Hmmm okay, a few questions - do you need it to be stored complete downstairs, ie seat unit and frame together as a unit or just frame? Will you be leaving it up or folded? What sort of shape is the space? How secure is it (before I suggest you buy something expensive that immediately gets nicked)?!

The bugaboo bee is the obvious one as it's virtually the only small, parent facing, newborn suitable, fold in one piece option.

I would say the options open up quite a bit more if you can keep the carrycot or seat part up in your flat and only the frame downstairs. As far as I know though the bee is still the smallest parent facing pushchair you can buy in the UK... no hang on I tell a lie. Kiddicare have the Joie Mirus which is smaller but has the flip handle set up instead of a seat which physically changes direction.

More detailed suggestions with a little more info? Grin

It's not secure (which is just as well as I have virtually no budget, I'd prefer not to sell my Jane Slalom R if I can avoid it )
I might be able to lock it to the stair frame thing, certainly I could lock it to itself

It'll have to be folded, there is no legit space for this, i have to wedge it in a gap under some stairs (with a microwave and a kitchen chair?!) or in a cupboard with an umbrella buggy, a large electric fan on a stand a car tyre and some random crap.

I might be able to manage getting seat upstairs, but it'll be nightmarish. I have a 10.5kg 14mo to get up these stairs, and she can't walk up them as they have massive gaps (no spindles on the banisters).

Somebody suggested zap xtra (is that right?) but it doesnt sit upright whilst parent facing- which would not suit my lo at all

Not sure about you budget but someone was talking about a new baby jogger out later this autumn that would be forward and rear facing. Looked pretty good. Jut bought a BJCM which is now my fourth(!) buggy and I wish I has found it first. It's bloody fantastic!

Ihateparties · 04/09/2012 23:46

hummmm hummmm... Older child good news on seat front, not worrying about carrycot/lie flat faff. The one mentioned just ^^ up there is the Baby Jogger Versa, which could work for you but pretty £££ (circa £400 for the regular non air tyre version). :-( re slalom reverse... no possibility of continuing to use that somehow?

Cheap small rf hard to find. Used or new? I'm thinking used icandy cherry, prices good, v easy fold, v light. Petite Star/nJoy Bubble reversible umbrella fold? Would you go for a used bee maybe?

I am probably the wrong person here really, I just imported this and this in quest for small, light rear facing pushchairs Blush. Not exactly recommending this but the latter one although bigger is light and very reasonably priced (>£200) for what you get assuming you don't have much by way of rough pavements etc. It's really suited to smooth surfaces only. Dunno if you could wedge it into any of your spaces though as it's not tiny folded.

CarefullyAirbrushedPotato · 05/09/2012 11:41

um.. what's BJCM?

Would the oyster fold small enough?

CarefullyAirbrushedPotato · 05/09/2012 18:04

I can't find a video anywhere of the fold with the seat rear facing which makes me dubious.
I'm having a little investigate of second hand bugaboo bees, but dd is so tall i think it might be foolhardy...

I can't stop but here is the oyster folded rear facing - its big. I suggest the Bee - can be slung over shoulder by handle. I think the Versa could be heavy to carry but definitely worth a look. I would suggest the Bubble and pull it up stairs behind you...but you would probably need a strap to hold it together better or maybe an candy cherry - chassis very light in one hand, seat over arm and baby in other. But it's a two handed fold :( I would make a strap for the seat or chassis to put on your back.

Tiggywunkle · 05/09/2012 19:24

Bee handle is pretty tall BTW....too tall for me fully extended.

CarefullyAirbrushedPotato · 05/09/2012 21:06

rear face oyster fold is Enormous! no wonder no videos of it, rubbish engineering guys

tall handle is good thing- daddy is 6' 4"
thanks for all your help!
