Would love your opinions. DS will be just turned two when baby arrives (hopefully safely).

I'm thinking Bugaboo Donkey as they look bloody fab.

Don't know that buggy, but unless you want to limit your roaming range on foot to under 200m in any direction, and even then probably only when weather was kind, I would get a double buggy for sure.

My DS was 2 yrs 4 months when dd arrived and everyone told me to not bother with double... Im so glad I did. I have (soon to be had) a Britax d-dual 2010 version and love it. It was so easy to use and fitted into the boot of my clio. Its quite bulky but I still use it now as a single with buggyboard attached...

Thanks for the responses - looks like a double it is. God help me! I'm petrified!

You'll manage. :) There's nothing special about everyone else who ever managed with 2+ little ones, including ones quite close in age.

Everyone told me not to bother with a double....

Except Tiggy and other mn-ers

So I've bought one Grin

(We will have almost exact 2 year age gap)

Yes I would get one , to cut the cost you could get one second hand. Trust me there will be times when you want the toddler strapped in just so that you can get somewhere in a hurry when you need to.

I still use a double - with a 2 year old and nearly 4 year old who has huge melt downs which include foot stamping, 'no', 'yuck' (to my horror), screaming, kicking, disappearing off down the main shopping street (with Daddy in charge I must add).
Tell me it gets better because she's been worse ths summer than she ever was at just turned two!?
A double pushchair gives me control, sanity, and the means to get from a to b easily and for the hour or so we are out......who else cares!?? It makes my life easier. Believe me she never stops at home so it's bliss to have her still for an hour! I am currently appreciating forward facing with lots of traffic noise too ;) Her speech is way too at advanced and traffic noise is bliss compared to the constant 'mummmmeee', 'mummmmeee'!
Tell me term starts soon!!???

Oh and for the record we went on a day trip recently - long one - walking miles - and she was the only one of her friends who walked all day - one friend even slept a good chunk of the outing!

Two year gap, I would for pretty much all situations really. You might not use it all that long or you might use it for aaaaages. Depends how you live your life though... if you fancy a donkey who are we to stand in your way.... Wink

My gap is three years and a month. When the big one is tantruming and the baby is crying and you sometimes just have to get out. I have a P&T Sport, invaluable last winter for putting baby in the Cocoon and 3 yo in top and getting him to nursery in wind and rain. He walks everywhere now, but on days out this summer (?!) I have taken the bottom seat loose in the shopping basket and given DS a ride at the end of the day.

I am about to have my second and will have a 2 yr 7mth age gap. We have just bought a bugaboo donkey which I am so excited about using (bought it new for about £80 more than what they are going for on eBay on a price match which is worth the warranty alone) I figured it would be a good investment took tiggys advice and won husband round on the resale value.

Ooh do let me know how you get on with it SJ. They look great! We have a Chameleon that we're looking to flog. Does anyone have any idea of the sort of price we could fetch for it?

ummmm maybe sell your cam now before the cam3 turns up and brings the resale of the older ones down a bit? I dunno, maybe that won't happen but it sometimes does.

Going from one child to multiple is a total mindbend, you just adapt and the concept is almost always worse than the reality almost...

Very useful thread. Am going to get a double I think based on advice here. Will have a 2yr 7 mth age gap. The 'gives me control, sanity' part sold me!

Just an update - have been using the donkey for a week now and absolutely love it!! It really is everything I hoped it would be. Some doors and spaces have been a bit of a squeeze but it gets through most and all standard internal house doors too. My eldest loves facing us as this is a novelty for her. It was sooo much easier pushing this with two up the hill from nursery than it was pushing DD up the same hill in her maclaren. Yes it was expensive but we'll hopefully get most of our money back when we resale and in the meantime can enjoy such a fantastic pram.
