Which 3-wheel buggy would have the words 'buggy' and 'sport' on the hood?

I chickened out of asking the owner. But saw it just now. Looked like a mountain buggy or p&t, but not sure it was either of these. The hood was squarish (angled rather than rounded) aluminium frame. Seat unit was quite large like a mountain buggy, but without the metal looking plate. Could it have been a baby jogger?

single or double?
adjustable handle?
what were wheels like?

thisisyesterday · 22/08/2012 17:47

think most of the baby joggers have a rounded hood

wonder if it was one of the really old P&T's? or ABC?

frustratedpants · 22/08/2012 18:19

Single. Think the front wheel swivelled. Spoked wheels. I think, I didn't want the mum to think I was gauping at her son basket was fabric not metal.
Ooh will look at a pic of an ABC, not seen one in RL.

It might well have been an ABC, I hadn't thought of that not seen one in RL before
I think I might have to stalk this buggy find the courage to ask the mum if I see her again.

the original phil and teds are similar, but not metal spokes on wheels

thisisyesterday · 22/08/2012 21:55

oh sorry, you didn't even say the wheels had metal spokes, i just made that up lol

BikeMedalsRunningMedals · 22/08/2012 21:58

Mamas and Papas 03 Sport?

Wallace · 22/08/2012 21:59

baby jogger performance?

frustratedpants · 22/08/2012 22:42

Thankyou.
Hmm, definately not mamas and papas one, smaller wheels than the baby jogger performance. Hmm, very similar to the p&t, it has that squarish look to it.

Could it have been an easylife sport pushchair this was the best pic I could find

Tiggywunkle · 23/08/2012 00:06

An older Baby Jogger Classic but I am not sure that would say "Sport" on. Or an O'Baby Sport?

frustratedpants · 23/08/2012 00:14

Ooh that might have been it tutu Grin

It comes in other colours. I had a rather funky yellow frame with Navy covers.

frustratedpants · 23/08/2012 00:35

It was a black one I saw.
Good sized seat, loads of leg room, but possibly short on the height under the hood with a larger toddler,

ColourMeWithChaos · 23/08/2012 00:43

I thought ABC

tutu100 · 23/08/2012 09:01

With the hood up a large toddler's head probably would reach the top of it.

frustratedpants · 23/08/2012 11:35

I think that was it tutu plus has sport on it.

If it is that one they are very good pushchairs. They are a bit heavy (to carry not to push), and folding it can be awkward until you get the knack and then it simple. But they are incredibly sturdy, are great for older/taller children. And they fold very flat for a 3 wheeler, although I did have to take the back wheels off to fit it in my VW Golf.

Ds1 used to still climb in it aged 5 (I was using it for ds2 by then - not pushing a 5 year old round). DP's sister borrowed it for DN when she broke her leg aged 6. The fabrics all popper of the frame and are machine washable, so very easy to keep clean.

I only sold mine as I hurt my back and couldn't lift it into the boot (got a Nipper 360 as a replacement).

I have a Pedigree Sport Twin (and also a very elderly EasyLife Sport Twin which I killedBlush so is destined for the tip) and I use it for DD2 & DD3 - DD2 is 112cm and 4y 9m with mobility issues and DD3 is 2y 10m and she is SWAMPED by the seat.

DD1 was tired in a supermarket check out queue recently and sat in it with room to spare and she's 6y 5m and 122cm! They are designed to take up to 45kg each side and will easily take a 7 or 8y (it's for hill walking in NZ so very rugged). They have a zipped strip under each seat to make the seat bigger so when your child out grows the seat - unzip - and there is plenty of more growing room.

Thoroughly recommend it even though I can't figure out how to fold it (I blame pg brain for that one) and it is heavy to lift on and off buses if they don't drop the bus but even the double isn't wider than a normal double pushchair (it's narrower than an Urban Detour double btw). I really love mine, it's a total work horse and will go for years (the one I killed was 10 or 12 years old and had been used as a quad pushchair for 2 sets of twins by it's 2nd owner - I am the third).

frustratedpineapplepants · 24/08/2012 21:42

Ooh that sounds really good truthsweet I like the idea that the seats unzip so it grows with the child. Dd is 4yo 2mths, and our major is on the way out with the terrain round my way.
How sturdy is the pedigree? Dd can tip a Jane 360 so I'm wary of a 3wheeler.

TruthSweet · 24/08/2012 22:05

The twin is a 4 wheeler so it's pretty untip-able (unless the front forks go and you blow a tire with only one child in it - oops! - again mine was ancient).

The frame is rock solid though and can take a heck of a lot of weight, I would have the single in a heartbeat for DD2 if DD3 didn't still use a pushchair and DD4 wasn't due soon (it isn't really suitable for small babies as the seat is a sling type rather than one with a firm back).

So on that note it does depend why your DD needs a Mac Major as to if it's suitable - when DD2 had arthritis I couldn't have used it for her as she needed an adjustable leg rest and more support in the back/hip area but now she just has hypermobility (I know one extreme to the other!) she just needs somewhere to rest when she gets tired.

frustratedpineapplepants · 25/08/2012 07:47

She has a balance problem, autism, no sence of danger, and refuses to walk. That is when she's not in the mood for legging it.
So the seat type isnt so much of a issue.

TruthSweet · 25/08/2012 08:17

In that case I think it would be good as then she just needs a seat rather than a supportive and protective seat. It has a good 5 point harness too though DD2 has worked out how to undo it (it has an oval pad with 4 clips like you'd get on a bag - the squeeze to release kind - rather than one of the more modern car seat type buckles).

Elkieb · 25/08/2012 08:29

I saw a 'nipper' when I was out the other day. I want one now Envy

peggyblackett · 25/08/2012 08:35

Is it one of the BabyJogger special needs buggies maybe? Have a look at www.specialneedspushchairs.co.uk.
