Lambskin liners do you use them and recommend?

I have a newbaby on the way. Just wondering about this, none of my friends have them and they seem quite pricey, are they worth it for a pushchair or carrycot?

Any brands to look at?

Thank you

I never understood the point of lambskin liners.

If the baby is born in winter, surely the baby would be wearing some sort of a snowsuit and they are padded so would keep the infant comfortable.

If the baby is born in summer, wouldn't the lambskin make the baby too hot?

I do like cocoons/footmuffs as they can be soft inside, and shield the baby from the elements.

Hi Milk, well yes that was what I was thinking too but imagined I might be missing something?!

The beauty of a lambskin liner is that it keeps a baby warm when it's cold and cool when it's warm. When it's really cold I use a lambskin footmuff and a plain liner at all other times of year. They're great!

I got given one, but DS was a bit big for it, going to use it this time but cant say that i think i would actually buy one, as the one i have cost £30!! I am told the premise is that they heat when cold cool when hot although not sure how?

Yes we have them and love love love them. All of ours (2DC) are 2nd hand, they wash and brush up well. We have them in Pushchair, car seat and bouncy chair, and take one with us for DD to kick about on instead of a mat if we're visiting. in summer baby still is warm just not sticky and sweaty like they'd get without. Highly recommended by us!

We've used sheepskin liners in pushchairs, car seats and as somewhere to lie when they were little and when DS2 was a couple of weeks old he liked sleeping on his side, so in his moses basket during the day we used a sheepskin as it was soft and moulded to him a bit more and so helped him stay in , but we only used it when someone was there to watch him sleep.

As LaTristesse says, they wash up well and we just love them - they are expensive but we have two that have taken a hammering and they'll be good to sell or pass on.

I have one and I love it. Mine is a footmuff but you can zip it off and just have a liner when it is warm.

I had my young baby (not sitting up yet) in it last Autumn/winter with just a cardigan on, no need for a bulky snowsuit and she was lovely and snug, and I could just unzip it in shops, or if she was asleep when we got home.

The liner part has kept her less sweaty all summer, definitely recommended!

We've always had them for our DC as babies - would definitely recommend.

It is very true that they keep you warm when its cold and cool when its hot. I also think that they are much nicer to sit on / sleep on than just the buggy seat IYSWIM.
We also had them in carseats for our triplets when they were tiny because it made them fit in the carseat a bit better - again, its a lot comfier too.
1 of our triplets would always squirm around when in her cot - we took one of the lambskins out of the buggy and she slept soundly on that. We then bought her a bigger lambskin for her cot and she slept so much better!

Are there any brands to look out for, or are they all much of a muchness? I am particularly seeking one that would fit the carsat, but am not certain if all will fit. Seems nice and soft though!

I recently bought the sheepskin buggy liner from a brand called BINIBAMBA after it was recommended to me by a friend. I am extremely satisfied with the product as they regulate my son's body temperature well and have kept him cool during the summer. They come in such beautiful neutral colours and I am happy to recommend this to anyone looking for a comfortable snuggle worthy buggy liner.
