So my beloved Mutsy has recently died a death (it was veeeery old and used!) and it needs replacing! I am currently considering either a Baby Jogger City Elite or Phil and Teds explorer... I have a BJC Sidewalk which I love (although can't help wishing I'd got the actual BJCM), but I want a nice sturdy 3 wheeler with a higher weight limit and an easy compact (ish) fold as we are shortly moving to a smaller place and I won't have a place to leave it up. I did consider BJCM GT but I like the look of the Elite and it's extra features it comes with and I'm not planning on parting with my sidewalk. I love the look of the enormous seat in the P&T Explorer but is it the kind of pushchair you purchase specifically as a single or not worth bothering unless you have two LOs?! The whole second seat thing isn't a huge issue as I am nowhere near thinking about baby no.2 yet but I suppose the doubles kit might come in useful one day. My DH wants P&T as he thinks it's the most practical purchase as it's so versatile. Anyway I could go on forever!! Any thoughts?!?

I have an Elite and recently tried the Explorer (as got a 2nd baby on the way)
I put my baby in the explorer (over 15k at 21 months) and it was so difficult to push and this was on a nice smooth surface in John Lewis, the push on the Elite is a dream (as in one hand up hill fully loaded) so perhaps I'm just spoilt. I cannot really fault the Elite. If you are wanting something to last it is also a good choice my dd is 99.6 centile for height/weight and she has tons of room in it, but it still has the easy fold and even in my 3rd tri I can fold and throw it in the boot of the car with ease. It folds and stands up OK in my very narrow hall, also a consideration for us. I nearly kept it because you can get a buggy board/joy rider (?) and carry cot/maxi cosi adaptors for the Elite, but decided to get a double in the end, but I think I'm going to get a decent price 2nd hand on the Elite and it has been such a great pushchair I don't regret the decision, even though I fell pregnant right after buying it!

I had a P&T Sport specifically as a single! When DC 2 came along, it was cheaper in the end to buy a double with all the gubbins off eBay than it was to get a new doubles kit and cocoon and double rain/sun covers. I love my 'new' Sport.

I also have a BJCM which I used for DS last year and DD now. Seat is big - DS - v tall and nearly 4 - still sometimes goes in it.

I'd get a BJCM GT, my friend has one, it seems like the perfect merger of the BJCM and Sport.

The p and t is v v heavy. Single is heavier than me pushing bugaboo donkey double

I woud get a Baby Jogger Elite or City Mini GT.

Really and not bother with P&Ts? I was leaning that way anyway. I love my sidewalk it's the one I keep coming back to!! Do you know if the Elite is much wider than the GT? For getting through doors etc? And is the seat bigger?
THANK you!! Xx

I wouldn't bother with a p&ts this now (as you say you aren't planning on any more dcs yet) and you like the bj you have.
I had the explorer to use as a double but planned to use it as a single first instead of my bjcm and it never got used as the bjcm was just better and easier to be honest.
I have the bj elite and it is fab (although considering whether to trade it in for the bj versa Hmm )
The elite is wider than bjcm/sidewalk and heavier to fold/carry/lift.
It is better in my opinion than the p&ts explorer for the folding purposes!
Good luck deciding! :)

I meant to say get a pushchair that suits your needs for right now and the near future and treat it like an investment. Then when/if you come to have another child you can reasses double needs as/when required. I would ink the elite would stay with you and last a long time but that is just my opinion
Oh and the seat is bigger (wider and deeper and taller) and it has a raised footplate :)

P&T have a dot which is a smaller single/double than the explorer.

Thank you that's really helpful :)
