Pushchairs

BJCM for an almost 3 year old

I have two children: 2.10 years and 3.10 years. At the moment I have a Phil and Teds double and both children hop in and out. We live in a village on the outskirts of town and although I am learning to drive, we are currently dependent on the bus. So there is lots of walking involved in our daily lives. 40 minute walk there and back to the pre-school. If we're going into town, another longish walk to the bus stop. DS was born with a heart defect; DD has been quite ill recently so neither has a lot of stamina and although they are out of the buggy for much of our trips out they do still rely on it quite a bit particularly on the journey back when they are tired.

I don't want a double buggy: they tend to take it in turns to ride in the front of the Phil and Teds anyway while the other walks. Plus neither wants to sit in it on the bus so I have to fold it down so other mums with babies who are in their pushchairs can make use of the space. So the Phil and Teds has become a real pain to lug around.

I'm wondering if the BJCM is worth getting. Hopefully both children will be out of the buggy in the next year but I do need something until then. DS is about 96cm tall; his sister is about 10cm taller than him. Are they too tall for the BJCM?

What do you think? It feels a bit mad to consider buying another buggy with my children being the ages they are.

No its definitely not mad....and a BJCM is a good investment as they dont lose resale value and the chassis' have a lifetime warranty if you buy second hand.

I have just bought a new side by side pushchair for my nearly 4 year old and 2 year old just to get us through the summer holidays because I hate - really hate - having my 4 year old hanging onto the side bar of the pushchair, her pulling it it, or wanting to hold the middle and "help" push, or dancing around the side, or ending up with her feet under the wheel at the side etc. It all got too stressful!!

My only worry is how tall your children are. 106cms is tall for a 3 year old! Here is a 102cms toddler. I am wondering if a Britax B-Agile would be better if you dont mind a lower handle height as its fab for older toddlers, or the Baby Jogger City Elite. The child is the same height in all these photos. The Baby Jogger City Mini GT is great for leg length too, but the child's head may well be on the hood rim. Hopefully those photos will help.

All these would fold easily for the bus.

I can recommend the BJCM wholeheartedly, it's a brilliant pushchair to use.

The only negatives about it are: it's not rear-facing (I'm guessing this is irrelevant in your situation), and the wheels are quite small - not good on mulch, sand or snow. So unless your walks take you off-road every day, I'd say the BJCM is a great option.
Height-wise, I think the BJCM would be just fine. Our friends have a 4.5yr old VERY tall girl (most people think she's 6, actually). She fits just fine. There isn't a lot of room above her, but her head is not brushing against the hood.
Plus, if you buy second-hand, you can get a real bargain. Given that you won't be using for very long, this may be worth looking into.

No, my son is huge, almost 5, and he fits in it easily. We don't use it much now but took it on holiday and he napped in it a few times in the evening.
