Hi, we're looking to buy a travel system for DC1 and are considering these three. We want to be able to walk it out with our horse which involve crossing field, woodland paths etc. we need something sturdy, capable of coping with rough surfaces etc, but also something that looks good enough to take not town etc. We've got a big car and space to store, so size etcisn't too big an issue. We just want to know peopl'e opinions on these as rural buggies.

TIA

Are you looking at a Peach Jogger rather than the regular Peach. The latter 4 wheel versiuon would be no good for your walks. I am not entirely sure I would go very off road with it. Are you looking at the Mountain Buggy Urban Jungle or the Terrain?

Yes, sorry, I meant the Peach jogger. Oops!

The Jane, hands down. I have a jane trider and it's fantastic on all terrains, friend has slalom which is excellent too.

Salhal · 30/07/2012 07:57

We had the Jane slalom pro (not the r) with first DC, with carry cot and strata car seat and it has taken a right beating, we have a dog and it has done lots of woods walks in all weathers. It is now nearly two half years old and I am using it with the carry cot again for new baby. Just bought a phil and Teds for both of them and it is terrible in comparison. I do think the mountain buggy is better looking and I do think in a little while I will sell both the Jane (not that I'll get much for it) and the p & t and get a mountain buggy. But I can recommend the Jane as an all terrain pushchair, it got me out in the snow even when it was really bad.

Thanks for the feedback. Tango and Salhal, have either have you had any issues with either the breaks or the the pushchair not being big enough for a toddler? Also, is the fabric hard wearing? We asked for an opinion in a shop (which didn't actually sell Jane) and they said the fabric lining tore very easily and the frames broke all the time. Just wanted to know wether that was trying to get us to buy something stock or a genuine judgement! Thanks

I have never had any issues with brakes or fabric, I have the trider and the stroller seat is smaller than the slalom, I don't imagine dd will fit in it when she's 3 but my friend has the slalom and her 3 year

Tangointhenight · 30/07/2012 10:09

Sorry pressed post too soon, her 3 year old has loads of room and she's a big girl.

I can't praise Jane enough, if you are buying one get it from www.samueljohnston.co.uk, they stand by it if you have any issues, the my dh broke the car seat handle twice and they fixed it no questions asked!

I have a Jane sonic buggy too, I'm a fan lol, and it's a brilliant lightweight buggy!

Have had both makes, and the Jane is MUCH better quality, more robust for offroad.

Thanks everyone. Although we prefer the look of other systems, we really love both the sturdy look of the Jane and the fact that you can also get the lay flat car seat or buy the matrix attachment. DH's family live a reasonable distance away, and we don't want baby sat up for too long too quickly, or having to make lots of unnecessary stops to get them out constantly. Plus, we really like the idea of having just one first car seat and carry cot, as they are in them for such a short time.

tango thanks for the advice on Samuel Johnston - will definately take that into consideration

I can't praise the matrix carseat enough, so roomy and brilliant if they fall asleep in it when it on the wheels, just transfer it straight into the car.

Great choice :)

Equimum · 31/07/2012 07:16

Thanks tango. I've not met anyone who's tried it, so that's brilliant to know. I think we're going to have a play again soon. Thinking more and more that Mountain Buggy might be better for later on as it doesn't seem to cater anywhere near as much for little babies. I know they're launching a reverse seat and offer a carrycot, but the Jane just looks a lot more supportive. And I think I need to follow head, not heart with Jane v iCandy Sad

The thing is everyone has an iCandy, it's the new quinny on that respect whereas no one has Jane, they are really common in Europe but not the UK, you can buy them in the supermarket in Spain!!

You won't be disappointed :)
