iCandy Cherry v Strawberry?

After discounting the Uppababy Vista due the width of the wheels, I bought an iCandy Cherry. I wanted a Strawberry, but couldn't get one.

Today I went into John Lewis and was able to order a Strawberry, for delivery at the end of August.

Now though, I'm not even sure if I want it! Sure, it looks good, but is it really much better than the Cherry?

For me, the main thing about the Strawberry is the one-piece fold, and easier to access basket.

Please help me decide!

The one piece fold would be enough to sell me but I don't drive so that could be an issue for me so I think it depends on your needs.

The Strawberry is a much higher spec, better quality pushchair to the Cherry. The Cherry basket isn't hard to access really. But the push and feel of the Strawberry could well be nicer for doing lots of walking because there's a bit more weight to it. Although the Cherry is lovely - I really like it - the Strawberry will give you a luxury feeling. They both have good sized seats, recline etc. the Strawberry just does it all better. One of the nice things about iCandy is that the Cherry, Peach and Strawberry do have a similar feel, but you can see where you pay more for the little extra details. Hard to explain...

mamadiva I think the one piece fold is the main benefit really, as I find it difficult to take the seat unit off the Cherry, stick it in the boot of the car, fold the chassis, lift the seat unit up to put the chassis in the boot, then put the seat unit resting on top of the chassis. If I put the chassis on top of the seat unit, i'm worried it might mark the fabric from the wheels!

tiggy I find the basket on the Cherry quite hard to access. I thought it might just be because of the carrycot, but I find it difficult with the seat unit too, I think it might be due to the high sides. At least with the Strawberry the basket can click down. Would you say that it's worth getting the Strawberry over the Cherry? DS is only 14 weeks, but I won't be needing the carrycot for the Strawberry, so it wont be so expensive. We've only had the Cherry for a month or so, but i'm sure i'll get a decent amount for it on eBay anyway (good job I saved the boxes!)

The Cherry was a compromise really... i'm torn! I don't think i'll be happy until I get the Strawberry! (Or the Uppababy Vista, if it had narrower wheels!)

I think you know the answer :)
There's absolutely nothing wrong really with the Cherry - its one of the best pushchairs I have tried, and its lovely and light to carry. But there's something special about the Strawberry (I am getting one soon hopefully). Have you also looked at the Uppababy Cruz? Mine arrives on Monday! Squeee!

We've just ordered the Cherry. We considered the strawberry but I could not get the hang of the one piece fold at all. I tried so many times and just could not do it and got really stressed by it. I also found that it was nearly 2kg heavier than the cherry, and as it went in the boot in one unit it was quite heavy putting it in and out of the boot.
I liked the cherry, although much prefer the colour selection of the strawberry. I thought it was light, easy to maneuver and easy to collapse. Plus it was nearly £250 cheaper. I know it's an older model, but that didn't bother me. We've ordered it in plain black.
We wanted one of the smaller pushchairs and also considered the Bee (discounted it because DH didn't like the wheels and the cocoon looks exposed) and the Oyster (which doesn't get much love on here).

I prefer the Cherry's lightness, but it doesn't have adjustable handles like the Strawberry does. Is that a consideration for you?

PeazlyPops · 23/07/2012 23:20

Ooh Cruz looks good! Argh there's too much choice! Pre-baby I didn't really care which pushchair I got, which is why I ended up with a John Lewis travel system that was reduced at Christmas (same as the Toys R Us Jig) which I ended up returning as it was far too difficult to fold/unfold.

The handle on the Cherry doesn't really bother us. DH is 6"1 and I'm 5"0, but he is happy with the height of it.

Kosher I think the extra 2kg would bother me actually, as I'm so used to the lightness of the cherry.

Decisions, decisions!

I have the Strawberry and it is the best thing ever. It's so easy to push, so easy to fold, the handle adjusts, the basket is unique and lovely and so easy to reach. I would hate to take the seat unit off a pushchair to get it in the car! Annoying!

HarlettOScara · 26/07/2012 21:18

I am loving my Strawberry too. DD is only 4 weeks so we're still using the carrycot but it pushes like a dream (everyone who has pushed it has commented on it, even those who have no clue about pushchairs), the fold is soooo easy and I've hoiked it in and out of my Mum's car several times today with no problem...I don't find it heavy at all.

The Uppababy Vista was my intial choice too but the width put me off. The Cherry didn't do it for me because of the small wheels and the 2 piece fold. The Strawberry turned out to be the perfect choice for us.
