Britax b-ready or abc adventure single with reclining top seat

Does anyone have either? Im after seat measurements. Or recommendations for a tandem double that may be big enough to hold a newborn and a 4yo SN child (no posture issues so can go in a "normal" buggy)

The B-Ready is the B-Dual here and the measurements may not be exactly the same. But here are the B-Dual next to the ABC Adventure Buggy seat measurements although it is a static toddler seat rather than the reclining one.

The ABC is fabulous but its a real beast. Lovely for walking with, but its not one to put easily into your car - in fact its the only pushchair that I have been unable to fit into my car because the fold is so long. It doesn't stand sensibly when stored and realistically needs leaving open permanently somewhere to walk out of the door with. Also, it would realistically be the youngest who is underneath as the head room is pretty low. I know there are different variations but my 15 month old's head was protruding out of the rear of the ABC and I had to be careful that my eldest didn't kick him. She could barely fit under at just under 3....she was way too tall.

Meanwhile a B-Dual could well take your children well but I would be hestitant to recommend it for a 4 year old (who will be 5 by the time the baby is a year old) unless she is small for her age. Also look carefully at the seating positions because even if your child doesn't have posture issues, the seat does make children slide down - partly because there is no footrest at the top (which is where the eldest would be to start with).

The weight of your children will be an issue longer term - and to be honest I think unless your eldest is very light, a tandem is going to be incredibly heavy very quickly. I have a 3 and a half year old and the only tandems that are realistic for her now (both push wise and also seat size) are the iCandy Peach, Mountain Buggy +One - and we are trying out the Jane Twone - which does work with her in the upper seat and is lightish to push - but I have reservations. Being real - I think the pushchair I would send you to look at is the +One because of your eldest - but there are real compromises for the baby, and the current threads about the +One under this one would fill you in on some of the issues.

Thank you tiggywunkle I haven't been on that site. It's useful to know that the head height of the abc isn't good. As that was what I was worried about.
I'm not keen on the plus1 because of the issues of compromising the baby. I also don't like the phil and teds. (fussy arse here)
My big one won't be in it very often as she will be in school. And fingers crossed we can get her walking outside. but for safety reasons we also need something for uncooperative days. So need the doubles option there.

I'm swaying towards the b-duel because you can fold the seat under or clip them on and off. As for the majority of the time it will be effectively a single.
With the Peach which seat would you put the larger child in?

I think I need to compare the peach and the b-duel..

I put my almost 4 year old in either Peach seat but really now she should move to the upper seat.
I have been experimenting with the +One today with good results but I need to discuss them first.
The B-Dual is a good option. The lower seat just lifts off.
Coud you wait for the Micralite Twofold this autumn? how about a TFK Joggster Twist with Multi X seat for the baby and buddy seat? That seat just folds up when not needed.

I use my B-dual for DD2 & DD3. DD2 is 112cm, 18kg and 4y 8m, DD3 is 92cm, 13.5kg and 2y 9m. It is heavy to push at the moment (but I am 7m pg and the school run & to go into town is up a hill!) but it was a lot easier when they were a bit lighter.

DD2's head is pretty much completely over the seat back of the top seat so she couldn't sleep in it (she won't ride in the lower seat now as it hurts her ankles (She has hypermobility hence still needing the occasional ride) but she just squeezes underneath the hood on the lower seat, the hood on the upper seat is huge and she has plenty of room under it (I have the 2010 model).

Using the raincover is tricky with a bigger child as normally I have the leg rest extended out flat (this means DD2's legs are supported fully to the knee) but then I can't fasten the raincover over and DD2 gets wet. To fasten it over the leg rest needs to be down and the front basket flap needs to be open so their feet can go back a bit into the basket. Not the most elegant of solutions but it keeps her dry!

I also have an EasyLife Twin Sport (though it has just died after 10+ years of hard service to 3 different families Sad) which is a very good option for an older child needing a pushchair but without the need for postural support. It has a zipped section under each seat that means the seat can drop down a bit giving extra leg room and a longer backrest (it's a sling seat so there isn't really a backrest as such). They are fairly cheap to pick up though rare to find and they are HEAVY and a beast to fold so not a fling in the car job but a walk everywhere, all day out type of pushchair. There are single versions available too.
