Any advise? Am I completely mad to consider getting one? It would have to be second hand as cannot afford a new one.

Basically Im still looking for a pushchair with one handle so I can push and hold DS2's hand when he wants to walk...I can't have a BJCM as the handle is too high and Im not loving the low hood on the GT!

The other main reason Im considering one is because he's got severe glue ear and virtually no speech...we are waiting for him to have tonsils/adenoids out which should help but at the moment every time he goes in the pushchair it's a nightmare as he screams the whole time we think because he can't see us (or hear us).

Anything in particular I need to look out for? Ive found a 1st Generation one for £220 with footmuff which I thought was very reasonable. He's tiny as he was premature and we tried him in one in JL and he had loads of room so it should last for a while yet and then I presume it should be quite easy to resell?

I would get one like a shot if I were in your position. Dd used hers up to 4 yo when she was just too big. Even at that age I could steer with one finger. resale wise, the new cameleon comes out in September, I think there will be a drop in resale value once this happens, but it shouldn't be too bad, there aren't many pushchairs out there 6 or more years old which are still worth more than 1/3 of their original cost!
Ideally get canvas fabrics rather than fleece, they stay looking nicer for longer, check all the foam on the handle/seat and bumper bar is intact, also check that the handle clicks into place on both sides when you put the chassis up. Any damage to wheels etc knocks off the price, for £220 for a first gen I would want it to be in a1 condition tbh.

Thats really helpful-thank you! Im kicking myself cause I always wanted one with DS1 (well a Frog cause he's 7.5!) and DH said this time I could have one but I tried to save money and got something different and now I really wish I hadn't!

Am I right in thinking the difference between 1st and 2nd Generation ones is the foam tyres? I realistically got about £275 to spend but I can't seem to find a 2nd Gen one for that. The one Ive found is on e-bay so I can't actually look at it but it looks in really good condition...no damage to bumper bar or handle and I asked about wheels etc and she said they are in good condition. I don't really need the footmuff cause Ive got a Buggysnuggle that I assume would fit but the Bugaboo one looks lovely on it!

ihearttc, i did exactly the same with DC1. DH said buy a Cameleon but I was loathe to spend the money, bought a Buzz and have since bought 3 other pushchairs, including a Bee Plus. Always regretted not buying the Cam. I'm now pregnant with DC2 and DH has said I can have a Cam (after much whining from me!)...yeah!

Lol! Im glad it's not just me...its daft cause I was actually working at Mothercare at the time so would have got my discount on it as well! Oh well never mind!

ihearttc - can't one of your old work colleagues give you the discount? :)

I have a cameleon and a maclaren. The cameleon is much roomier! DD is 15mo and her feet already sticks out of the front of the maclaren, but she's not old enough to bend her feet over the edge onto the footrest yet. But on the cameleon, she's still resting her entire leg on the top bit. I think rogers right it'll fit up to 4yo for a small child. (DD is 25th centile so quite small). I love my cameleon, it's so easy to steer. I've got the official footmuff too, and it fits very well. My only problem with it is that the rain cover is very hard to put on compared to the maclarens.

I have literally just bought a Cameleon for my two year old. We had one with DD and I loved it. It only got sold to fund a double pushchair. I am loving having a Cam again. I put my almost four year old in the Cam yesterday to try er out and she still fits great although her head is on the hood fabric (but it was at 18 months old anyway lol). I am glad I bought it.
