New stroller for (nearly) 2 year old?

Hi all
We have had our DD in an iCandy Peach since birth and now she's 23 months, her feet are dangling over the end of it. We would like to get a stroller but are aware that she won't be using it that much, as she is very keen on walking ('Nooooo pushchaaaaaair!!') but would still use it on long shopping trips, days out etc.
Can anyone recommend a relatively cheap, compact stroller for a toddler? I have never really looked into strollers as we were so obsessed with getting a travel system.
Thanks...

Does she still occasionally nap?

Hi, yes she does - would be good to be able to recline slightly but not essential as she will sleep anywhere if the mood takes her!

DS grew out of Mothercare Spin at about 20 months (much to my disappointment, I LOVED that pram) and I eventually decided on a Maclaren XT and it's fab. V expensive to buy new but I picked one up on eBay for £50, hardly used. I would recommend it to anyone

Have you adjusted your Peach correctly so tat the footrest points to the floor? My almost 4 year old fits in the Peach great still. Your daughter soon will learn to place her feet on the footrest if she doesn't already. Also make sure the hood is pushed up the frame high enough.

Thanks Tiggy, I'll make sure I've done all that but I think I have. She's just so long!

My DD is nearly the same age as your DD and is also tall. I can't fault my Maclaren XT that I bought off eBay for my DS who is now 4.

The Obaby atlas strollers are good for the price. You'll probably only want it for another year or so anyway, unless you plan on having more children, so I wouldn't bother shelling out for an expensive one like a Maclaren, even if you do a lot of walking.

If you plan on having more then it might be worth paying the extra, though.

I absolutely agree with Maclaren XT fans, has been great for dd from 2.10 months-3.5 and she is very tall.

Always a maclaren. Of any kind. All my friends who have bought cheaper versions have regretted it and ended up buying a mac in the end anyway!

I bought an xt for my ds when he was 2 add he was too tall for most pushchairs and I hated it!

felt rickety when walking a pita to recline and he kept dragging his feet on wheels traded that for a city mini and that last Ed till he was ..5

I hate Maclarens with a passion. I had a Chicco LiteWay that was a much nicer and less rickety push but I wouldn't buy any stroller like that for regular use on long days. The baskets are always tiny and hard to access and the wheels/suspension make them quite juddery on anything but smoith ground.
I've just bought a Bee+ for my 22 month old daughter. It's not like me to spend a lot of money on a pushchair but their resale value is very high. I've been really surprised at how good the suspension is on it and it's a far superior push to a normal stroller.
Another pushchair I'd look at would be a Micralite Superlite. They're light to push and the seats are big but the basket is pretty small too.

Just buy Argos's most basic one. Why spend more?

I bought one a while ago for my dd who is now three and a half. It's still going strong. Iuse it for the nursery run in the morning as she is a dawdler and it gets us there on time. It was £30 I think.

Another vote for Maclaren.

So light, so easy to fold, so narrow - everything you want in a toddler's chariot.
