Pushchairs
New pushchair for big 20 month old, with tall parents
Antidote · 25/06/2012 15:35
DS is 20 months. He is not a bad walker, but is definitely not at a stage where I would consider not having a pushchair.
He is tall, and heavy (over 13KG). Searching the recent threads makes me less anxious about the '15KG weight limit', but his size is still a consideration.
DH & I are tall (5'9" & 5'11")
Our current pushchair is an ancient and very well used Jane Carerra C. The tires are bald, the chassis leans to one side, it veers off down slopes in pavements, the brakes don't work etc etc etc. It would be hard to imagine anything worse.
We are London based, and the pushchair gets used a lot on buses & the tube. While our car isn't tiny, it is always absolutely full of crap outdoor kit.
So, any advice on a lightish, compact, 4 wheeled, manouverable pushchair with properly adjustable handles for the tall. Added bonuses are reasonable storage and not too bulky when folded. I am trying not to spend more than £200 but would consider 2nd hand.
I had assumed I would get a fairly basic Maclaren, but the wheels look a bit crappy.

Just seen the micralite Superlite. Could anyone tell me if they know if it might suit someone tall?
GnocchiNineDoors · 25/06/2012 15:42
The Maclaren techno.xlr is what I have and I intend to never buy another pushchair ever
They are hardwearing and have extendable handles for 6'3 dh but also good for 5'2 me.

A Baby Jogger City Mini 4? Or if you dont mind 3 wheels then the Elite might last you longer?

I second the baby jogger elite (although it has got only 3 wheels and a bit heavier than a maclaren would be). The adjustable handle is great for pushers of different heights from short to tall and the one handed fast fold is great. The size of the seat is very roomy and has even accommodated me in an emergency. And the wheels would tackle different terrains easily if you are outdoor-sy as well as being good around town. The price range new does fall outwith your budget for new unfortunately but you are likely to find secondhand. That's the one that immediately springs to mind but will keep thinking as I'm sure something else out there would match your requirements :).

Oh dear, I was sort of hoping you weren't going to suggest baby joggers as I secretly really want one!
I shall have a peep on eBay.

Have asked the pramos and they say no to the superlite as you feel the need to get handle extenders as you're tall!
Baby Joggers are good too

We have a chunky 20 month old (99.6 centile height and weight) and have an Elite. We are really tall, 5.9 and 6.2. It has been great. I got a great deal on it through boots.com it ended up costing around £200 with quidco cashback/triple points factored in.

We have the micralite superlite and it is fantastic. Dh is over 6ft and I'm 5.9 and we've had no height issues with it. It is light, brilliant to push with one hand, easy to fold etc. We're using it for our 2nd dd now and it is still going strong!
