Why can't you fold the Silver Cross Linear with the pram carry cot on?

So, all the instructions for my Silver Cross Linear say you must take the carry cot off before folding it. Yet looking at where the attachment lies, I see no reason for it -- it looks like it would just sit right on top. I found one message board where someone mentioned folding it with the carry cot on, but she also mentioned something about the wheels falling off later!

I'm be taking the bus when I go back to work in a month, bringing by-then-4mo DD along with me, and I'll need to fold the pram and put in the baggage compartment (it's actually a coach that passes where I live in the middle of nowhere, express from major cities), and get it out when I get to town. It would be much easier if I didn't have to take the pram carry cot off before folding it. But I don't want to ruin the pram, either, by testing.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Alternately (or also), does anyone have tips for coach/bus travel with the Silver Cross Linear?

I had one when ds was small and from what I can remember of it, you probably could fold it altogether but it would be massive and very very heavy. Tbh I think you'll struggle with this every day, so my most unhelpful advice would be to just not do it. Either get a sling or get a proper, easy folding stroller, a Maclaren will last forever and be a doddle to fold. Imagine being stranded if there wasn't space for your giant buggy in the baggage hold.

To be honest, if the taking the baby to work on the coach is a long term solution then you really need to consider a one handed fold / open. Where are you going to put your baby (at some stage a heavy crawling baby) whilst you open your pushchair? Plus I assume you will have a changing bag and work bag / handbag? I honestly think something like a Baby Jogger City Mini or Versa or another easy folding pushchair would be worth its weight in gold to you. Whether you have a carrycot on to start with or you use a soft cot or cocoon that can be easily lifted out (or even placed on the floor for a few moments). But long term I think you will be glad of a lightweight, flick open / one handed close pushchair.

I agree with the others, baby jogger would be a good option.

You can physically fold it like that but it's so bulky and heavy that it's hard to take anywhere. I have one that I use for walk from the house. If I'm going out in the car/public transport I have a petite star zia as its really light and you can carry it one handed. I've also had a maclaren which is really easy to fold.
