What happens if your DC is heavier than 15kg?

It just suddenly occurred to me that the weight limit on my pushchair iCandy peach is 15 kg. My LO could be the incredible Hulk's son, he is quite strong and last time he was weighed, he was 12kg. Is really terrible if he is heavier than the weight limit?
I can not really buy another pushchair because I need it as a tandem.

They're tested to a much higher weight, at least 20 something kg. The UK have a blanket weight limit of 15kg for all pushchairs it seems. The BJCM, for example, is given a much higher limit on the American website than on any UK ones. So he should be fine.

oh i wondered this but my boys were all big and weighed the 15kg at quite a young age and i still used the pushchair, had a phil and teds for ds4 and dd and ds4 was def over 15kg and still in it and i loaded it up with shopping etc and it was fine.

bizarrely the one time i did have an issue with a pram, when ds2 was a baby (about 8mths) i had a chicco stroller that broke, and the shop tried to say he was too heavy to go in it, i pointed out that he was 8mths old! nad yes he was big over 90 percentile but he wasnt a monster baby! i stood my ground and got a refund.

interestingly once mine got to about 15kg their weight tended to slow down so it wasnt like had a 20kg child int he pushchair iyswim? and ds4 is now just 4 and big/tall for his age, he weighs over 15kg but no idea by how much and sometimes still sits on the front of my instep nipper, dd in the seat and i can push it fine, it doesnt seem to be doing it any harm but pretty sure its not recomended!

As Gerard says UK pushchairs only need to be tested to 15kgs to go on sale. It costs several thousand pounds per colour way for testing, so most manufacturers dont want to pay extra for higher weight testing when they are allowed to sell their pushchairs at 15kgs!

If I am in doubt I often try and find the same pushchair on a US or Australian website as they usually give a more true weight limit. However there are caveats with that because sometimes even the same pushchair is made differently, but you use your common sense!

As someone else has said children's growth does slow down as in kgs but you will find that legs spurt from somewhere instead!!

My Mclaren Volo coped perfectly well with hulking great 6/7 year olds (doing the school run when they were off sick) so I'm sure that any reasonable quality buggy would be fine with a 20kg toddler.
