something that folds up small and would be comfy for a nearly 3 month old?

if it could rear face too i would love it, but maybe asking too much!

current pram takes up too much boot space and is a bit rubbish so we either need something cheap for the trip, or a replacement for the old one.

have Googled and trawled and am more confused than ever! thought I'd ask the experts... :)

thanks in advance.

Can't help particularly on the buggy choice as mine are nearly high school age now, but if you find something that fits the bill but doesn't look comfy enough for the little one, line it with a sheepskin - extra comfort and insulation can turn it into what you want - sometimes the backs are a bit hard for a young baby.

Petit star zia folds small enough to fit in the footwell of the seat behind the driver apparently.

They lie flat too.

jaggythistle · 10/06/2012 14:37

that's what I'm thinking, I'd like him to be snuggled up a bit. :) thanks for the idea.

I kniw also that they pop up on gumtree and ebay so if you are on a tight budget those are possibilities.

Ah... cheap, rear facing and small. That would indeed be living the dream.

A used bugaboo bee (cheap might be questionable!) or something like this if you're willing to take a punt on importing something there's the odd spanish site that will ship this here total cost of approx £160. Be Cool are part of Jane so I would assume the quality should be okay but obviously that's an unknown factor really. When I sell some more things on ebay I will be trying one out!

Hmmm... there must be more. Obviously if you're going to consider only forward facing then your choice is huge. For something a bit more robust than a Zia maybe a Baby Jogger City Mini or Britax B Agile. Any number of umbrella fold buggies.

Hi all .. Just joined today in the hope there might be info on a suitable pushchair for my little one when we go to America in oct ideally parent facing .. ( currently using a stokke ) didn't think I would find a thread on the same subject so quick :-) I've just seen the new Quinny zapp xtra today but it's £ 250 don't want to take over your thread but if poss would like to tag along :-) x

Ihateparties · 10/06/2012 22:06

Parent facing, small, light and cheap is hard to find imo! I get desperate sometimes and consider ordering things direct from china but have never quite had the bottle to do that yet! Grin

By October there will be the Petite Star (Njoy up) Bubble which is an umbrella fold parent facing pushchair. Or if you have a little more money, look at a Baby Jogger Versa and then sell whatever you already have!

forevergreek · 13/06/2012 17:12

Phil and teds smart

Tiggywunkle · 13/06/2012 20:14

The Smart doesn't fold small, it's really long! Plus it's the most uncomfortable pushchair to push as your wrists practically touch at tummy button height which makes your elbows stick out like a chicken!

littleweed10 · 13/06/2012 20:40

The city jogger mini is great compact fold wise, lie flat, easy to open one handed. Not rear facing but hey ho...

forevergreek · 14/06/2012 15:05

Hmm the smart folds small enough for us and fits in mini cooper boot, so really not large. You can also buy travel bag where the wheels pop out so can fold safe away when travelling but easily pull along etc. is half the size of cameleon folded.

Both 6ft and haven't had problems with handle issue

It's great and lightweight for bouncing or carrying down tube stairs.

jaggythistle · 14/06/2012 15:29

apparently we are going for plan C - take big muckle annoying pram and just pack less other stuff in the boot!

so no new pram shopping for me. :(

thanks anyway for advice all. :)

i was just away to try and convince DH that the Mutsy Evo looked like it folded up small as well... read about it on a thread on here and it looks v nice and comes with a carrycot too.

The McLaren Quest is lightweight and folds up small. Suitable for 3 months plus, reclines but won't lie flat. Used one instead of a Stokke for travelling as it is far more practical at airports, hire car boots etc. It's got a sports handle so you can sling it over your shoulder when folded which is actually quite handy. The XT is more expensive and slightly heavier but it does have extendable handles.
Depends how long you are going away for, its surprising how many people have a second pram that they are prepared to lend out if it's not at risk of being thrown around a baggage carousel.

jaggythistle · 18/09/2012 15:32

just realised i forgot to update!

we did get a Mutsy Evo and it was perfect. i got the cosytoes too and it has a lovely snuggly lining which DS2 seems happy in.

i did get the carrycot, but wish I'd not bothered, as DS2 is so big it was a waste. if I'd used it from birth it would have been great though.
