First time pushchair buyer here! Have read lots of positive reviews in here of the Baby Jogger City Mini...

Would this be a suitable pushchair for our requirements: easy to fold for frequent car journeys, planning to do lots of walking but mainly on pavements, lightweight / easy to handle?

Presumably we would need to get the matching carrycot to be able to use it from birth?

Going to do some shopping / testing next weekend so any other pushchairs that might work well?

Sorry these are some very basic questions!

Many thanks

What is your budget?

Wildwaterfalls · 05/06/2012 11:53

We do have a bit of flexibility in terms of budget (~£500 perhaps), and happy to pay for good quality / easy to use. Don't want to splash out just for brand / looks though!

There's the new Babyjogger Versa out soon. Very similar to the mini, but rear facing too.

The Baby Jogger City Mini sounds like it could suit you well. As the PP says, the Baby Jogger City Versa is on the way, and to be honest, if you have time to wait, I would get that because its still compact and easy to use, but offers soooo much more in features eg adjustable handlebar, handbrake, huge basket, large seat, and a seat that allows your child to parent face as well as forward face. Plus it folds with the seat on in either direction. Its an awesome pushchair design! The seat is very similar to the City Select, as is the basket, but its not as long, but it folds more like the City Mini.

Going back to the City Mini though, the seat is suitable from birth so you dont need a carrycot if you dont wish. But with the seat fabric stripped off (you dont need to do this) it looks like a lovely pram. There is a choice of 3 carrycots - a hard bodied bassinet, a compact carrycot and a compact plus carrycot (slightly bigger). But I used a Bugaboo Cocoon directly on the seat unit which lasted around 10 months. But you can't see your baby as well like this.

The other pushchairs to have a good look at are the Mutsy Evo, the Easywalker June, Uppababy Vista and Cruz, Bugaboo Cameleon and the iCandy Peach. There's a difference in prices but have a look.

Great advice. Thanks so much for writing all that down!

The versa does sound worth investigating - baby due in Sep so we have some time. Rear-facing is a good benefit to have.

Will check out these other models when on our shopping expedition next weekend Smile. Looking fwd to it!

Really appreciate the advice

If you would like a Versa, its worth getting your name down for one. I dont believe Ladybugs for example are not taking deposits until nearer the time for example, but at least you have one held for you. You can always change your mind later. But the Versa is going to fly and Baby Jogger are restricted by their shipments and so from past experience its worth getting your name down. There's loads of information on the Versa here.

Thanks again Smile! Good tip about the waiting list!
