Icandy peach blossom 2 or Britax B dual?

That's about it really.

After looking at all sorts so far, the list has been narrowed to these two.

Am in love with the PB2 (saw the PB and really liked it but want the new one) but the delays are worrying me that I won't get it in time for my little one due early Aug.
Will have a 20month Toddler as well by then but tbh don't expect to be pram pushing anywhere till late Sept really as will have to have a c section for medical reasons.
Have seen people recommend the Britax B Dual a few times, had a look online and it looks good and is almost half the cost, most places seem to have stock or discounts of some sort as well. Not sure I get get out to go and look at a real one as not very well at the moment and am on bed rest. Any previous owners around that can tell me pros/cons of actually owning one of these please? (perhaps talk me out of one or the other?) Thanks in advance.ThanksWink

If you can afford it, and get your name down now, then I would try to get a PB2. iCandy announced the first ones are on the way in July, so I would phone round your nearest retailers - try several - and have a really frank conversation about what they expect and when and how many people they have preorders for. There may be a shop with 6 preorders and one with one for example. Go and have a wander around Best Buggy's tandem section because you should get a good impression of the B-Dual and PB2.
In a nutshell the B-Dual is great. There are good spaces for the newborn and toddler. It pushes easily, folds with both seats on, has a large basket etc. all good part from one thing and that's the seating position of the children. The lower seat is like the child being in a deck chair, and the upper seat really needs the footrest up. The B-Dual is wide which puts a lot of people off. But if you are happy with that then the B-Dual is great value for money.
The PB2 has better seating positions, both seats are similar size, I have the same age gap as you, and I like that either child can go in either seat. It's easy to swap them around. I know some people find it tricky to access the lower child through the handlebars. I haven't had an issue and if I remember I load the lower child before putting on the upper seat (I always forget lol). The PB2 is narrow, neat and easy to push. It's smallish folded but there's lots of bits. But the Peach is fantastic as a single or as a double. I think the ease of use and pushability plus the child comfort is what wins for me. The basket isn't as accessible especially in carrycot mode, but the lower seat footrest is flexible and can be moved out of the way. I usually recline the lower child for access and then rotate back. The biggest con is the supply issues but thats really up to you to locate someone likely to have one by the time you need it :) But I think it's worth it. Plus resale value will be good.

I have a Peach and recently had a B Dual. Depends what's most important to you I'd say. The peach is luffly (I expected it to be practical and good but I didn't expect to really like it but turns out I do, although the shiny thing doesn't really float my boat) but the B Dual was also very nice, I got rid of mine purely because of the width, it's 67cm with the wheelguards off, 72ish with them on. Some places this would be fine, in this house in this city it did not work. Which was a shame because it is otherwise very very nice.
I very much doubt you'd regret a Peach though(from the perspective here of a really quite reluctant convert) and even more so the PB2. It's far more of a single than the B Dual, you really don't need to keep another pushchair for outings when you are only taking one child.
Have ye looked at the Jane Twone and Babystyle Oyster Max? Sorry, dunno where that ye came from!

LKbabyH · 31/05/2012 22:17

Thanks all for your wise words so far. I didn't realise the bDual was around 72cm with wheels. That's how much space I have to get it in my house unfolded Blush perhaps I should just bite the bullet and put my name down for a PB2 then. Wink
It DOES look v luffly! Grin
I was trying to justify the cost blah blah in my head of the pb2 since I found the BDual.. I blatantly blame pregnancy hormones for the indecision...every 5 mins!

Oh yes, good point about resale Tiggy, maybe I can persuade DH to view it like pram rentalGrinGrinGrin

I do consider all double pushchairs as a pram rental, especially for siblings. If you buy well, and sell well, then hopefully the rental hasn't cost you too much. Save all the boxes, instructions etc.
The PB2 is fabulous. Get your name down though asap!! You can always pull out later! A lot of stockists arent even taking deposits at present.

Ihateparties · 31/05/2012 22:51

If you put the baby in the bottom of the B Dual you can get away without the wheelguards on so 67cm but at some point you'd need to put them on (at which point I couldn't get it into my house!) Also yes, resale is a big thing. In the end both would probably cost you something similar (b dual resale is woeful) for the time you have it but obviously with the peach much bigger initial outlay.

Peach.

Particularly if you already love it. Go forth and find one!

I love the pb2 and have had my pre-order with John Lewis since about April time. They said it would be with me by May but now they are saying it might even be July. I'm due in two weeks so I'm panicking about what to do now. Someone else has recommended the britax b-dual to me but I'm also going to look at the phil and teds explorer and bjcm double (any opinions on these anyone? Please help me!) Basically I've got myself in such a tizz that I know I'll end up making a wrong decision, or no decision at all and be buggy- less for the first couple of months. If I were in your position I'd definitely get in there early and get your name down for one, I wish I'd done it sooner as nothing else I've looked at has come close to the I candy.

Tiggywunkle · 31/05/2012 23:12

The first Blossom kits are arriving in July according to the iCandy FB wall today if that helps? Did you get the single Peach? I can't remember? If so, you could just buy the current Blossom kit to make do for now? I may have the wrong end of the stick though in which case I apologise? I have had the BJCM double and I liked it but would recommend the GT over the standard City Mini. If you want more reasons why then I am happy to give them.

Sgj14 · 01/06/2012 07:36

I have ordered the double peach so I'm waiting for everything, guess I could look into getting the single and the existing kit, just seems a bit ridiculous though. If I could 100% guarantee it would come in July I would possibly wait, as like the OP I am having a c section so can't see myself doing too much for a few weeks. But it's the uncertainty of not knowing for sure, I don't want to get through June just to be told it's been pushed back till august.

Tiggywunkle · 01/06/2012 18:34

Its now June if that helps for the first Blossom kits. The car seat adaptors are on the way but there's no sign of the Blossom carrycots unless you have a twin one on order :(

Ihateparties · 01/06/2012 19:41

Again as a person who has run through a couple of options since the baby was born had I got the peach in the first place it would simply have worked. I did end up with no double for a couple of months, it was a bit rubbish but the peach in the longer term is worth the wait. Something fairly cheap and second hand to see you through till your peach you have on order comes through? Sounds like it might not be all that long now.

Sgj14 · 11/06/2012 14:16

Heard from John Lewis over the weekend and my PB2 is on its way, should be with me tomorrow. Woo hoo. In my panic over having no double I'd already been out and bought a bjcm double, so I shall be giving them both a good going over tomorrow and returning/selling the one I don't want. Very excited to see the PB2 in real life though, feels like Christmas!

B-dual :o

*dream to push

*fantastic basket-easily accessible and large!

*both seats v comfy

*hood on bottom seat-v useful!

*top hood offers brilliant coverage

*variety of handle heights offered is great

*when bottom seat isn't in use, you can very very quickly and easily turn the top seat round to face you-so baby can be parent facing then if older child wants to hop in just turn it round

*bottom seat fully reclines so both can lie flat to sleep

*can fold it without taking the bottom seat off

*for what it is I think it folds to a v good size

*its a brilliant single and double-no real compromise on either

*it IS wide-due to mudgaurds-but it fits in the narrow hallway and I regularly use it London buses with no problem

I bloody loves it :o

Tiggywunkle · 12/06/2012 16:21

iCandy Peach Blossom 2 (just as devils' advocate because I like the B-Dual too):

*Easier than the B-Dual to push especially as the children get older

*Good basket but not as accessible. The front footrest lifts up to allow you to push things under the rear seat, or recline the lower seat and push things under and then put the seat upright, or pop the rear seat off when stopped to access say a changing bag. There is plenty of space in the front section with easy access.

*Two bucket seats - so really comfy, especially with liners in (extra). Much much much much much better seating positions than the B-Dual where the children look slumped and having no footrest doesn't help. The seating positions with the B-Dual is my number one issue with it. If that was fixed then the two would be much closer rivals.

*I like the B-Dual mesh in the hood to see the lower child, however in winter, this should really be closed and thus the hood is a fold smaller than it is in the summer. Plus sunlight coming through the mesh in their eyes is an issue for both children.

*Good handle heights and lovely chunky handle.

*Bottom seat fully reclines and top seat has 2 positions.

*Folds in pieces which takes a few seconds longer than the B-Dual but may suit a small boot better and isn't as heavy to lift in one chunk. The B-Dual can be split into pieces too, but the B-Dual also folds in one piece which can be useful especially as it freestands in the house. The Peach can be carried in one go - chassis over your shoulder and a seat in both hands eg to the car.

*Fits in my car boot neater leaving half the boot free. The B-Dual used to fill my boot.

*The Peach is a lot narrower than the B-Dual. I used to struggle to get through some shop doors with the B-Dual. You can remove the wheel guards if a baby is in the lower seat though.

*A car seat or carrycot would go on the bottom of the Peach. You have the choice of where both these go on the B-Dual but in reality the baby is better in the lower seat laid flat, but the upper B-Dual car seat option is nice.

*Much more expensive but does have a good resale value.

*Looks great and feels fabulous to push!!

I really don't now how you manage on buses with a b dual... Mine barely got in the house and I had to take a wheel off got get it in my friend's! I kept looking at the extra cms they added for no perceptible reason between the frame and the rear wheels and fuming ever so slightly. It'd be so useful if it weren't for the excess width.

Yaaaaay to the arrival of the PB2, I for one hope you keep that and sell the city mini! Grin
