The true gurus will be along shortly but in the meantime...

Do you know how you will be using it? Town? Country? Live halfway up Everest? Public transport? Or do you have a large car boot?

If you could give a little more information then the experts will be able to point you in the right direction.

I know that they WILL say that the most important thing is that the car seat fits your car properly - the advice is to sort this bit first and then let the rest flow from there.

Many pushchairs have adaptors for the main carseat brands so you should still have a good choice.

I appreciate you don't want second hand but you may want to consider this. You would be able to get something of much higher quality this way, and some prams have had very little use (and I speak as someone who had collected 5 by the time dd was 3 months old).

Oh and you will certainly be recommended a Baby Jogger City Mini! They are up to the hype -I have the city mini and am about to buy the Summit as well (off road/jogging buggy)

We got the Apollo 4 by hauck, in brown and blue/cream. Was £260 i think, 2years ago, so if still available should be cheap! Hth

Just looked on kiddicare, where we got ours. Hauck start at £130 so worth a look i think.

Hi you could have a look at this in your local Mothercare, not sure if it is suitable for a newborn as there is no carrycot

Thanks so much for all the info!
Am living in London so will be using public transport quiet a bit.Not planning to go cross country running or jogging with the little one.
We don't have a car but a lot of friends with cars so suppose better to get one with a car seat.
I am quiet small so don't want to be stuck with a very bulky pushchair but my husband is really tall. What to do:)?
Looked at Hauck pushchairs and Gracos but for Hauck the reviews are quiet bad or non existing and as for Gracos there is so much choice alone!
Thanks again for all the advice!

It might be quite hard to get something that will be good and last you for £200 particularly if including the car seat in that but even if not quite a challenge. Hmmmm.

Do you want a carrycot or a lie flat seat suitable from newborn to toddler? Do you want it to face you just for a young baby or the entire time? Quite important question - Are you likely to need to fold it for public transport whilst holding the baby?

You won't go wrong with a city mini as mentioned (they take car seat adaptors and a choice of carrycots). Probably can the get the buggy for circa £200 but not a carrycot too. The Britax B Agile is similar in function with some small differences. The handle for example is lower so tall people using it could have a problem. Probably you could bring this in under £200 if you bought a 2nd hand or on offer carrycot from ebay or similar. Just the buggy is well under £200 now. The Graco Evo is £279 from mothercare, reversible lie flat seat they often have 10% offer codes so that's quite close to your budget. The Jane Muum is £250, very light, does fold in one piece etc but you need both hands to fold it and I found it rather big. Jane Solo Reverse similar functions but slightly different style.

If it might be more your kind of thing several maclaren buggies go from birth and one has a soft cot attachment so a newborn can face you. For a parent facing option in this style the Njoy/Petite Star Bubble is due out soon and is suitable from newborn (I've seen one though and it does not lie totally flat).

To note there is relatively little choice of parent facing pushchairs in the this price range. Also parent facing ones often but not always fold in 2 pieces. If they fold in one (ie bugaboo bee) then they tend to be quite a bit more expensive.

What you want it to do is the most key thing, which of your requirements are most important. There's usually a compromise or two somewhere along the line Grin

This is a bargain, you may need a carrycot though. You might be able to sell the free pushchair and put the money towards it?

Ooooh good spot Safmellow! It's kind of a great idea selling a package like this, the price is excellent.

The Britax carrycot is really nice and you can get them new for around £50 if colour isn't a big issue. The seat lies perfectly flat on this though (it's the exact same unit as the top of the b dual, I put my newborn in that recently) so it would not be an absolute necessity.

That is a great deal :D

RockChick1984 · 23/05/2012 22:21

Is there a reason why you want a travel system if you will mostly be using public transport? My DH doesn't drive, and hated using the travel system on the bus as they are so big and chunky, also he couldn't fold it (separate pieces) so frequently has had to wait for another bus if the pram/wheelchair spaces were already in use. Personally would really suggest something light with 1 handed fold if you are likely to use on public transport a lot, there's few things more annoying than waiting for a bus in the rain, only to be told you will have to fold the pram or wait for the next one! Smile

I really want to buy that Britax myself even though I don't need any of it :)
