Good sun protection/ Europe holiday pushchair

Looking for a pushchair that can air travel well, can be bought cheaply 2nd hand and has good uv protection. Holiday was unexpected so have no idea. Guess if pram can cope with beach/gentle offroading that would be a bonus.

Thinking about it, if I thought airline( Ryanair) would not damage in transit I might get more expensive as need lightweight pushchair anyway. DD is 16 m but relatively petite. Can anyone please suggest anything?

Googled, and it seems that a pushchair that can be pushed on the beach is one with big wheels- not so good for travelling unfortunately :(

Thank you milk. I guess if not beachworthy then lightweight enough to be easily folded up and carried along instead. We have not been abroad with small children for years so have no idea what is currently suitable.

It's got to be a Baby Jogger City Mini TBH (or a Metro or Sidewalk but not a Micro). The hood is second to none. It's pretty robust for an aeroplane, can be folded one handed and that would be my choice. Look also at the Maxi- Cosi Noa - the hood isn't as big but it's a perfect travelling pushchair.

Thank you Tiggywunkle. I am really keen on good sun protection but cba with parasols. I will google some more about Babyjogger. What about Babystyle Oyster- says it has built in net or something and also Maclaren claim to have a more useful hood?

The Babystyle Oyster has a built in insect / shade net which is genius to have handy but I can't see anywhere that says it has an SPF rating. Plus I wouldn't consider taking an Oyster on a plane - there's potentially too many bits that could break or crack. I am sure people do take it though!! LOL I have no idea about Maclarens.

Well I have had virtual fun "shopping" online. It seems due to my age or the fact I live in Scotland the existence of UV protection nets that are widely available, cheap and fit any buggy has entirely passed me by Blush. So I think I will get a cheap buggy for the holiday in case of damage. However, I am persuaded that I want a Babyjogger GT for the rest of the year.....slippery slope isn't it :)

LOL re UV sun covers! Enjoy shopping for your cheap buggy and a BJCMGT should be on everyone's shopping list, even if you never actually manage to buy one Wink. I am picking one up this week and am very excited as it seems like the perfect mix of the BJCM and the Elite (both of which I own) :)

On the cheap buggy front, Zeta Vooom has a very big hood but I don't know if it will stop UV in its tracks

or might be cheaper on Ebay

Just to let you know I am very grateful for all the advice and got a Zeta Vooom. The main reasons being price, as I couldn't get what I wanted second- hand in my area, and the extending hood. It has had a test run and seems as sturdy as the Maclarens I had in the dim and distant past. I' ll let you know how it gets on on holiday.

The next good news is that DP has unquestioningly agreed we need a more off road capable buggy as well and he already likes Baby jogger having tried out the fold mechanism one time I dragged him around Mothercare. So now I have to sell my old pram ( if I can ) to put some funds towards it - they are a bit pricey!

I love my Vooom :)

Yeah Baby Joggers are expensive but they are so worth it. Good luck x

Definitely the BJCM. The hood is fab as its just so big. If you have it in recline, then you can roll up the flap at the back so its just net which means any breeze gets through so your DD won't get too hot whilst napping. I always feel very smug when boarding the plane too & just pull on a handle &, hey presto, its folded.
