Obaby Zezu - going back

First of all, hi everyone, I'm new here :)

Just bought my first pushchair for my first baby - due on 22nd Oct! Decided on an Obaby Zezu pramette after seeing how easily it fits into my friends car. Sadly where I live you cant test any of them out in a shop because nobody stocks them so I went ahead and ordered it. SO so so disappointed when it arrived and we unpacked it, popped the pram onto the chassis and found it has so much movement. This is something I've found with a few that I've seen in shops, and obviously its something I want to avoid. Just wondered if anyone else experienced a similar problem, and also what kind of buggies you have - are they wobble-free when attached to the frame? I've got a budget of about £300 and now I'm totally clueless! xx

I've found that's the case with a lot of carrycots too, but I've never been concerne by it tbh as, if anything, the movement helped my LO to go to sleep.

I hope you find something you're happy with.

I contacted Obaby and they mentioned that the movement is normal because its a removable component. Being one of their best sellers too, they also said its very safe. I suppose a bit of movement is to be expected but it just seemed a lot. Back to the drawing board :)

you will find movement on all carrycot prams otherwise baby would feel every bump and be bouncing around everywhere. I'd be wary of one that doesn't move at all. put a bag of sugar/rice in it and push round the house will give you some idea of what the babies movements would be

Thanks Rachel, I wouldn't have even thought about movement helping to cushion the bumps! totally clueless hehe!

To be honest, I haven't really found a carrycot that does have a lot of movement....I mean there's probably a little bit of movement but nothing that I would ever be concerned about. It sounds like you have a lot of movement on yours.
Is it the carrycot on the chassis? Is it the carrycot itself thats wobbling or the frame?

Tiggywunkle, its when the carrycot is on the chassis, the only way I can describe it is as if the hole is too big for the attachment. I did have a look on an online tutorial for setting the thing up and saw that the buggy in the video has a fair bit of movement too. the frame doesn't move a great deal but there is some flex in it, which I'd expect anyway.

Does the movement get better if you put some weight eg 10lbs in the carrycot?

I don't think there should be that much movement. I have a mamas and papas ultima and there is no movement at all.

I use a three wheel buggy most of the time now with my three month old, however I really liked the cossatto out and about pram and that is around your budget.

Tiggywunkle - it didn't make much of a difference to be honest, still a lot of movement when laid down as a pram and also when seated upright.

Scarlettsmummy2 - thanks for those suggestions, I'll have to have a look at some Mamas and Papas buggies. I guess its hard to make a decision without giving a few a wobble and feeling for myself.

I have a britax b agile, that has movement but not masses, certainly nothing worrying. The only thing I've ever had that didn't was a Hauck Malibu (not that I am in any way recommending that!) because it came with a strap that hooked under the back of the cot (the end nearest you) from one side of the frame to the other thus keeping the cot still. Dubious pram but good idea I thought. The new easywalker June will apparently have 4 attachment points to limit this sort of movement. If it really worries you then I'm sure there will be other things which also offer a firmer feel.
