Buggy width crisis-I need MN expertise!

Dear Holders of Buggy Knowledge!

We have one ds who's 2.5 and our main at home buggy is an old but loved Hauck Infinity. It was 2nd hand to us through a friend and it's survived being used by our nanny share with a baby in it and a toddler on the back on a board. However, it's showing signs that the end is nigh...we have a very old britax umbrella fold which lives in the car which we bought on eBay for pennies as we had a britax lie flat car seat and it fitted on those wheels when we were away. We have 2 jane 3 wheelers which we were given which live at grandparents but I need a replacement for the Hauck (Blimey, feels like maybe I've got a lot of buggies!). We have a dc2 on the way but it's too early (8 wks) to have announced in rl so I need to factor that into my equation as well. Today we picked up an eBay purchase in the shape of a britax vigour 4+ which we hoped would take the place of the Hauck and which we hoped we could use our lie flat on as the carrycot for dc2 plus our existing buggy board and we loved it. We're both fairly tall so loved the height, ds1 looked comfortable, it was a bargain, in brilliant nick. BUT it's 3 wider than the Hauck with solid tyres so no "give" and it doesn't blinking fit through the door into our flat! I'm totally gutted as I thought we has our solution. So, what I'm after is a smaller chassis, 60cm plus, forward/rear facing, preferably 4 wheeler (didn't get on that well with the 3 wheeler Janes in our urban setting plus they take up entire boot of our car) which has a single handle (making toddler control possible) and fairly big wheels as I've got a damaged spine so need something that's pretty light to push with one in the seat and one on a buggy board. Not fussed about colour/trendiness but I need some ideas to start looking!! Very happy to think about second hand/discontinued lines. Oh and if it'll take a britax lie flat car seat so much the better! Sorry this is long, on my phone do editing difficult. (as an aside, anyone after a great condition britax vigour 4+ :) )

3cm wider. Not just 3 wider.

What is your budget?

If its a babysafe sleeper you have I think the narrowest current britax is the b agile at 58cm. I use mine with a sit on board and it's v easy to push in terms of effort needed but have to walk off centre. My board is long though. Also if you don't remove the fabric then there wouldn't be room for the child on the board to stand inside the handle even if you had a shorter board. About to be a pic of my set up on my profile for reference, once I remember how to do it.... HTH

Thanks! We've not yet set a budget as we need to see what's out there first iykwim. If it makes more sense to have a new system and not use the britax lie flat then we're open to that too. I'll look at your b agile, thanks!

The BabyStyle Oyster sounds like the answer to me. They take Britax carseats so should take the Sleeper, but I'd take the carseat to a shop and try it on to check it doesn't tip at the head end. They're 54cm wide, fold fairly small, have a good size basket with easy access, can have air tyres if you buy them for around £25 and are actually nice to push. They also do a buggyboard if you want one. The hood sits a bit low for a tall child but you can slide it up to give the height you'll need for your 2.5 year old.

Hypatia thank you! I'm having a google now and think we'll see if we can go and test like you suggest. This experience is just confirming my opinion that between mn and google you can achieve pretty much a perfect solution to most things!!Grin

MN is far superior to Google though. Wink

Agreed but I've not found an mn image search yet, that would make it my total one stop shop!!Wink
