Visiting NYC for 3 weeks w/a 7m old and 3y.o. Which buggy?

We have a Bugaboo Bee and a Maclaren Volo. Which should I take? I'm going to be out and about in NYC quite a bit on my own with the kids as DH will be working during the week. I haven't actually even tried to use the Volo with my 7 month old but am worried about how buggy-friendly (or not?) NYC is. Is it as easy to get on/off buses with a buggy there as it is in London or would I have to fold? Also, is the subway buggy-friendly? I really prefer the Bee myself and find the Volo a bit awkward to handle but I hate folding the Bee and definitely can't carry it plus two kids on my own, so if lots of folding is going to be required I'd rather bring the Volo.

It's been a long time since I was last in NY but I think there were lots of escalators at stations. I'm not sure if I ever got a bus, but I think the subway is a better/quicker method of transport there. I wouldn't put a 7 month old in a Volo. I can't see how they'd nap in it.

Invest in a Maxi Cosi Noa. It's a one handed fold and should be easy to handle with a baby under one arm and a toddler. Fab pushchair for things like you describe and it has a good recline too.

Subways are not buggy friendly at all. Lots of stairs and escalators and not many lifts. On my visits to NYC, I always noticed how many people use slings because they are obviously much more practical.

We had a DC free holiday in NYC a few months ago & I remember as we used the subway that I was glad I didn't live there as there were a lot of a stairs & then (which would be worse with a pushchair) turnstiles onto the platforms & no luggage/pushchair gate such as you get in London. We watched one family where the mother when through the turnstile, the father than passed over the DCs & the pushchair & then came through the turnstile himself. I don't think you'd be able to manage that by yourself. Now, we only used the subway a few times so this may only apply at a limited number of stations but it could be the same at all of them. We didn't use the bus at all.
I noticed that most of the locals had BJCMs or Bugaboos or, occasionally, iCandys & they must get around somehow, I just don't know how. Taxi? I don't recall seeing many slings.
Also, if public transport is going to be a problem, is it worth taking a buggy board in case you end up doing a lot more walking than normal & your toddler gets tired?
I might post this question on one of the pages which gets more traffic & make it more NYC specific - something like "can I get use public transport in NYC with a buggy" - & hope someone local responds.
